The Brit It-Girl Collab We Can’t Get Enough Of

251

We love a good celeb makeup collaboration, especially one that’s fun and unexpected (Anna Sui x Minnie Mouse, anyone?).

British It girl Alexa Chung hooking up with London-based Eyeko isn’t so unexpected—actually, it makes perfect sense, since a ’60s-inspired cat eye has long been a signature look for the model/actress/TV host. Chung didn’t just slap her name on the label and call it a day, though. “I met up with Max from Eyeko and we got along very well,” she told Vogue UK, explaining how the partnership felt organic. “I was inspired by his energy and the products themselves. So I started scribbling down ideas about how they could improve them and coming up with little puns that I could see or imagine on the barrels of the tubes.”

The result: the Eye Do set ($39), a limited-edition pairing of Eyeko mascara and liner with Chung’s cheeky brand of humor (for example, “That’s where I draw the line” is scrawled on the liner) and intuitive eye makeup savvy.

A blackest-black cat eye is one of my favorite looks too, so I was excited to get playing with the set! Inside, you get the waterproof Eye Do Mascara in Eyeko’s signature silver tube, the Eye Do Liner pen, a poster designed by Chung, and a special edition lash guard (which I totally thought was a guitar pick!), all housed in an easily giftable blue poster tube. Currently, this duo is the only Alexa Chung for Eyeko item available stateside; the liner and mascara are available separately in the U.K.

The liquid liner is the standout—the felt tip is firm, so you get a solid, super-black line. It’s also infused with Widelash, a conditioning and strengthening serum purported to plump up lashes over time, with regular use. My jet-black swoop lasted all day, even through some sweaty manual labor (you can never look too cute while cleaning the house!). Since the formula is waterproof, it’s ideal for tightlining.

Good-for-you ingredients like keratin, gingko biloba, shea butter, and a host of vitamins and antioxidants take center stage in the mascara. Oh, and it looks good, too: it left my lashes supple and lengthened, and the included lash guard (an Eyeko signature) made it easy to get right into the root of the lash. Bonus: both products are formulated without parabens, sulfates, or phthalates.
