Should You Be Using Bust Cream?

Cleavage can be a fantastic secret weapon to have up your sleeve. Or down your shirt, as it were. But exposure to the elements and just plain old age can leave the area looking slightly crepey and less than firm. Even certain sleeping positions could be a culprit—on your side, they say, can result in a neck crease that might turn into a deeper wrinkle over time. Luckily, there’s a cream for everything! Beyond your usual body cream, products designed for cleavage-improving purposes contain ingredients that lift, firm, tighten, boost collagen production, and protect against environmental damage. You’re not gonna see a massive lift (no miracle cream for that yet, unfortunately) but your décolletage will look softer, firmer, and more hydrated with any of the following secret helpers. Grab a tube, and perhaps kill two birds with one stone and do a breast exam while you’re at it.
The first thing you’ll notice about this lightweight, almost gel-like white lotion is the scent, which Lush describes as “a fresh bouquet of orange blossom, rose, jasmine, and ylang ylang.” I absolutely loved it, but if you’re not a flowery type, or are sensitive to fragrance, you may want to give it a sniff before purchasing. Inside, there’s cold-pressed jojoba oil, (cold-pressing better retains the benefits of the plant) plus two main active ingredients to firm and tighten: Tiger Lily petals and European meadowsweet, both of which are known for their anti-inflammatory, toning, and astringent (tissue-shrinking) properties. After applying, I could feel the difference almost immediately—the area felt softer and firmer. You can also try this on other wobbly bits (legs, arms, etc.) you’d like to tighten up!
I’ve never met a Clarins product I’ve disliked, and this lotion was no exception. It’s also lightweight, with only the slightest fragrance that disappears in a few minutes. The French beauty brand is known for infusing plant extracts into many of its formulas; among those in this product, you’ll find vu sua (star apple) extract, which supports natural collagen production, firms skin, and protects against free radical damage, and bocoa (an Amazonian tree) extract, which also helps keep collagen from breaking down. The results are fairly quick—you’ll notice more firmness in a few hours—and visibly improve with regular use. For application advice, check out this quick tutorial.
The most affordable of the three, Palmer’s is known, especially among expectant mothers, for its cocoa butter-based formulations that help improve the appearance of stretch marks. Hydrated skin always looks smoother than dry skin, of course, but this cream also has collagen and elastin to help tone and shape. (The light cocoa scent is a delicious added bonus.) Some fans actually swear by this product’s lifting power for the face, but we recommend keeping it below the neck if you have sensitive skin.
