Q: How did you come up with Foxy Locks Extensions?
I had actually been selling online for a few years trying out a few different things. I have been wearing clip in extensions since I was 16 y ears old and every time I would buy them I was never 100% satisfied. They were always way too thin and if you wanted anything over 70g of hair you had to pay a lot of money (we are talking £100’s), so that’s when I decided to start to my own brand.
I wanted other woman to feel how I do when I have my extensions in – as soon as I put them in I feel much more glamorous with my big hair! I knew that by bringing out the best quality, thick clip in hair extensions at a reasonable price other woman could afford to feel and look amazing!
I have to admit it hasn’t been easy and there have been obstacles but my passion is hair and especially hair extensions. When your heart is in something there is always room to succeed with lots of hard work and dedication.
Q: What sets apart Foxy Locks Extensions from other extension brands?
My company is not run by 100’s of different people, I am completely involved with everything and because it is my business I always strive to give my customers 100% satisfaction. I spent many hours, days and months working on the best hair extensions. Foxy Locks is very personal to me, I suppose you can say it’s my baby! I am really happy with where Foxy Locks is now and the quality of the hair.
Q: Did you start creating beauty videos on YouTube after you created Foxy Locks?
I first started my channel and then I created Foxy Locks, in a very short time of each other. My channel is there to help people create hairstyles and make-up looks step by step. I try to be as thorough as possible. The extensions really help me to create these hairstyles but for some they are not necessary if you do not need them.
Q: Do you have any favorite pieces from your line?
I personally wear the Foxy Locks Deluxe clip in extensions – these are my favourite as they are the thickest. I also wear the Foxy Lashes all the time!
Q: When did you first get in to makeup/hair and who did you initially learned from?
I studied Beauty Therapy at college and I am a qualified Beauty Therapist so I have always been into make-up. I did a Wednesday one hour class where I learned hairstyles but to be honest I didn’t learn very much as it was cancelled after the first 6 months. Most of the hairstyles I do are self-taught, I just see a hairstyle I like and I will try to recreate it.
Q: Do you feel creating beauty videos and blogging has changed your life?
It has completely changed my life, I never realized there was a beauty community, I had no idea I would meet so many amazing people and have so much fun. I am so proud to be a part of it and now I spend most of my life making videos or blogging! It’s great fun, but your heart has to be in it!
Q: What is the toughest part of being a beauty guru?
For me being a beauty guru is amazing, I love every part of it! I really enjoy reading all the comments I get on my videos. YouTube can be a very tough place and many people find it hard with all the ‘haters’, but you just need to be yourself and be honest. You also have to realize that not everyone will like you or agree with what you say.
Q: What is the best part of being a beauty guru?
Every part! I love reading all the messages I get through email, comments and Twitter. I get some really lovely ones telling me I have inspired people and that really makes me happy. I have been mentioned in a couple of magazines and it’s very surreal!
Q: Do you have any advice for other Beauties that would like to start their own channel?
Just be yourself! Don’t go into it if you don’t know what you’re doing or you will attract hate and it won’t become a pleasant experience. Just have fun with it and don’t take it too seriously!
Q: Do you have any advice for other Beauties that would like to start their own company?
Starting a business is not easy and it is not something that will happen overnight. It takes a long time to start it up and get out there. Once you have established what you want to do and really see yourself make a career out of it then just go for it. The key to a successful business is to be true to your customers and give them the quality product.
Do you have a signature look that you are recognized for?
I would have to say big hair and false eyelashes!
Q: What is your favorite beauty splurge?
To be honest I don’t spend big money on make-up and beauty, but more on clothes! I do have a silly amount of nail polishes though! I spend a lot of money on drugstore make-up. I honestly believe that some of it is actually just as good as the high end products out there.
Q: Can you name 5 products that you cannot live without?
MaxFactor Facefinity Powder
Trevor Sorbe Blow Dry Heat Protect Spray
Q: Do you have any insider beauty tips for our Beauties?
My favourite tip is to wear white eyeliner on your waterline. It automatically makes your eyes appear bigger and fresher!
Q: Can you give us a sneak peek into any upcoming beauty videos or posts?
Of course more hair tutorials! I have a whole folder of celebrity hairstyles I am going to be recreating! I just have to decide which one to do first.
