Actress Amanda Peet is the new spokesperson for Crest 3D White and boy is her smile bright. Beautylish catches up with the star of “Gulliver’s Travels” and “Please Give” to chat about teeth, toddlers, and her beauty tips.

Wow, you really do have beautiful teeth. How often do you use your 2 Hour Express Whitestrips?

You’re supposed to do them every three months, but I cheat and orient towards an important event. If I know I have a premiere, party or press day, I’ll do them the morning of. They give me an extra lift and glow.

So you did them this morning? 2 hours seems like a long time. How do you pass the time?

I whiten while multi-tasking. I’ll put the Whitestrips in first thing in the morning, get the kids out of bed, check email, get the kids breakfast, get them dressed, yell at them, negotiate a couple of tantrums, and then take the Whitestrips out on my way out the door to drop the kids off at school.

Sounds like you’ve got a lot going out at your house in the mornings.

Yeah, that’s why I like the Whitestrips. They give my smile pop. I think that teeth are an underemphasized part of the beauty regimen. Sometimes I’m not wearing a stich of makeup and my husband says “what have you done differently?” and it’s just my teeth.

Have you whitened your teeth before trying Whitestrips?

15 years ago, I went to the dentist and did the trays and goop. It was excruciating. Excruciating. I had to take three Advils after.

Yikes. As an actress, do you feel pressure to have a bright, perfect Hollywood smile or to always look red carpet ready?

I’m lucky because I’m not hounded by the tabloids. I can just go out [without being chased by cameras]. But I think that white teeth are not in the same category as fake lashes or orange tans. To me, having white teeth looks beautiful in a natural way.

What are your must-have makeup products?

I like really berry-colored blush. Something that makes me look like I’ve been running the hills in Ireland. I’ve been using Cover Girl in Plumberry Glow these days. And I wear Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream as lip gloss. I like Eight Hour Cream because it smells like my mom. She used to put it on her fingers and cuticles and when she cleaned my ears, I could smell it.

Anything else?

I have to do my eyebrows myself. I’m scared of eyebrow anorexia.

Have you always been more a natural beauty? What about in high school?

I’ve gone through all sorts of phases. There was a period when I didn’t shave my legs. I wore mocassins and I was a Deadhead. But I also used Jolene Lip Bleach to lighten my hair. That’s when I was 13. I grew up in NYC, so we were exposed to a lot more at a younger age.

You highlighted your own hair with Jolene Lip Bleach? How did that turn out?

A little green. I also did the Madonna hairstyle where I shaved the back of my head. I used a lot of mousse with that hairstyle. Is mousse back now?

Yes, but it’s better than it was in the '80s. It’s not as crunchy crispy now. What type of hair product do you use?

Kiehl’s Silk Groom. My husband and I share it. He has a jewfro and I have a milder jewfro.

Well, at least you didn’t need a perm when you had that Madonna hairdo.

No, I didn’t need a perm for that style. My hair is definitely better now than when I was a teenager.
