Continuing Milan Fashion Week, Redken Creative Consultant Guido Palau created an effortlessly sophisticated low, '60s-inspired ponytail at the Gianfranco Ferre fall 2011 fashion show. “This is an ultra-flattering look on any woman in an almost sporty kind of way. When you tease and create height at the crown it throws the face forward,” says Guido. Keep reading for tips on how to get this look, plus more backstage pics.

hair tutorial Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2011: More Ponytails at Gianfranco Ferre

  1. Prep hair with Redken Satinwear 02 Ultimate Blow Dry Lotion. Blow dry in sections with a Mason Pearson brush moving up to the crown

  2. Back brush at the crown for extra lift. Create a messy side part and sweep hair over forehead. Then bring all the hair together at nape of the neck and secure in a low ponytail with an elastic, making sure to keep the height at the crown from the back brushing.

  3. Finish the entire look with a light spritz of Redken Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist.
