While Chanel's 2011/2012 Cruise Collection left us with an infinity of pastel fashion statements to choose from this resort season, Peter Phillips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, made sure the faces of the Riviera runway remained natural and unassuming. He used matte, supple textures on eyes, cheeks, and lips, as amped-up lashes stole the spotlight. Keep reading for the latest beauty breakdown.
First, Peter primed the skin with Hydramax + Active Nourishing Cream, then smoothed on Perfection Lumiere Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Makeup SPF 10 (set to replace Pro Lumiere and launch October 2011). He gave the skin is powdery fresh finish with Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder. Peter used Eclat Lumiere Highlighting Face Pen to highlight the corners of eyes and high planes of the face. To cover blemishes and dark circles, Peter applied Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer.
He softly contoured lids with Les Ombres Quadra Eyeshadow in Prélude (available July 2011). He smudged a thin line of Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Ebène, and brightened the lower waterline with Le Crayon Kohl Intense Eye Pencil in Clair. Peter made sure to curl and coat lashes with Recourbe Cils De Chanel Precision Eyelash Curler (available August 2011) and Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Black.
Peter gave models a glowing peach cheek with Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Espiègle (new for Spring 2011). Lips were glossed with Soin Tendre Lèvre Hydrating Lip Treatment. To match the overall polished and pastel aesthetic, manicurists painted Le Vernis Nail Colour in Beige Pétale on tips and Jade Rose on toes.
