Ok concealer, looking for better

I had my eye on this concealer for awhile and when I saw rave reviews on totalbeauty I decided I should get it. The packaging is cute, durable and portable and there is plenty of product held within. Light is kind of a peachy-beige shade. I love that Covergirl teamed with Olay to incorporate a creamy lotion swirl into the concealer. It has a slippery, smooth and silky buttery feel, which I quite enjoy. This only slightly covers dark circles and blemishes, with aid of a primer/foundation/bb cream/ loose powder underneath. It covers pimples much better than dark circles, but even with pimples its not the greatest. I already have my sights set on other concealers and I have plenty on my ever growing makeup wish list. What might help make this concealer work better is using the corrector shade first, then using Light, then set with my loose powder. Or maybe I just need to layer Light much more than I already am. Either way I still have plenty of product I don't mind using up in the meantime, and when I hopefully find something better, it will remain my trusty back-up.

Not for under eyes, maybe for blemishes, will try as a primer and find other uses

I got this product a long time ago, along with a few other makeups. I'm not sure whether the person who gave me this and the other makeups was pawning off unwanted makeup or was giving new makeup to me. I didn't use the concealer for while but decided to crack it open at one point. The packaging is cute, portable and fits perfectly in any train case, makeup kit or makeup collection. I like the doe foot applicator, personally. However, the actual product at hand is nothing to brag about, in my opinion. The concealer I received was the lightest shade, and it has pinky/peachy/yellow undertones. Its liquidy, runny and sheer, so it doesn't cover dark circles in the the least. It might just barely cover a blemish or two, if the face is prepped, primed, and full of foundation, beforehand. But, all hope is not lost! I'm a huge fan or recycling makeup/skin care containers, and using makeup for other purposes than how its specified, as well as multi-tasking if thats possible. That being said, the ladies on this thread and especially, Emma R. and Erin Z, gave me a few great ideas of how to resurrect a certainly "meh" makeup product. :)

Nice creme blush from the drugstore

I've become a blush/bronzer/cheek product fanatic of late, and this product helps me create some pretty stellar cheek looks. I love the cute packaging- its study glass, small enough for makeup kits and portable enough for travel, and has a cute, informative lid. I heard about the Dream Matte Mousse foundation from Maybelline first, then got this later. I've had this creme blush for awhile now- and theres still a lot left, and its not drying out. There is an ample amount in the jar, too. Looking at it now, its still as soft and spongy as ever! I like to use this as a base for powder blushes- it helps set the creme blush and gives your cheek color some major impact. Without a powder over it, I didn't notice much fading, but there probably was some, like many of you gals mentioned. Rose petal is a nice shade- a shade I tend to gravitate to all the time- on the lids, lips and cheeks. When swatched and on the cheek, you get a nice, dusty pink, with a lot of gold shimmer. You might need a few layers, despite the creaminess, to build the color. The creme has a crumbly texture, that you need to flatten out, in order to spread. The gold shimmer is quite pronounced when swatched, but I don't find it too distracting on the cheek. However, putting your powder blush over this one, will cut out/blanket some of that shimmer. I don't think the gold shimmer would be too unflattering for someone, but watch out if you're a cooler undertone person who doesn't feel great in gold colors. I don't mind the gold shimmer, but I kind of wish I knew it would be present- I bought this for its color, not necessarily the shimmer factor, even the gold shimmer factor. I didn't get to pick a silver shimmer as opposed to a gold shimmer, even though the gold is fine. That shimmer does add some warmth to that pink, mind you. I also heard you could use some of these as creme bronzers which I would love to do. All in all these are great, but a little shimmer heavy. They also have a lot of parabens in them.

Not the best out there

I debate about whether I should go out and get this, then write a review- or just stick with my memory about this product, (hopefully thats sufficient) and not waste the money. I used to use this mascara way back before I was seriously into makeup- in my tweens and teens. I thought mascara was mascara- it didn't cater to different issues or concerns. Heck, I didn't know there was any different way to even apply mascara! In hindsight, the best thing about this product was its gorgeous, modern packaging. I loved the cute, edgy, girly design but the mascara was OK. I got some clumps, not a lot of length or volume, and for best results you needed to use a lash comb- a simple fix, but another step to do. I remember this to be a little messy, and just average. Will it coat your lashes a nice black? Yes. Will it do a ton of other awesome things? No. So its great in a pinch, but not ideal. It might work better to use this as a liner- take an angled eyeliner brush, run through the comb and apply as a liner. This is a tip I found on a beauty site.

A staple in anyone's brush collection!

This is one of my favorite brushes from the set it came in. The brush head fits the curve of the eye perfectly. It makes lining eyes with dampened eye shadow or dry shadow super easy and fun. You get the perfect amount of product on the brush when using it- you don't pick up too much or too little- there's a lot of control there. I love how precise and mess free this brush is. I love using it with shadows and will use it for my gel/creme liners too, now that I have a few newer favorite gel/creme liners that are more workable and reliable than ones I've owned before. The brush is super soft, but still firm. Use some caution with this brush though- it does bend a little bit if not properly stored- mine is OK, but I realized the bristles are soft enough to be bent, accidentally. Love EcoTools, their brand, the whole shebang. Highly recommend this brush- its one of the best angled eyeliner brushes out there, with various uses, and a better value!

Makes you feel classy and glamourous

My mom got this as a gift a really long time ago. I discovered it while back and snatched it up because I know she is practically allergic to it and perfumes in general. The packaging is so classy- a white box embossed with the Chanel logo in black. I love that the box is reusuable- you can house anything from your beauty collection within it. The bottle is also quite elegant but very simple and not overdone. I'm not huge fan of really strong perfume, but this one is an exception. I wear it on special nights out or events when I want to really get dolled up and look my best. It has a zingy, heady scent. Spray lightly if you want a subtle whiff- it is very strong. The set also came with a shower gel and perfumed body lotion. I love the lotion- it smells wonderful and I love smelling it when I moisturize around my neck and shoulders. You feel like a pampered princess when applying and for added scent just spray the perfume over the lotion. Its a strong, statement perfume reserved for only the most important occasions.

A beauty staple!

I've been into this stuff for awhile now. I love the peppermint and tea tree oil ones-and want to try more. I love using them as a body wash- they are so refreshing and don't dry my skin out or leave a soap scummy residue like bar soaps do. I use shampoo on my makeup brushes, but I definitely want to start using this as well! Because its so wholesome, it doesn't surprise me that it is a great brush cleaner. I forgot about how concentrated it is, and am glad I was made aware- as a body wash you can whip through it if you're not careful. All in all, I love this stuff, and can't wait to further explore its multitude of uses!

Wonderful product, terrible packaging!

I loved this liner! It had a great formula, almost like a Stila Smude Pot or a thick, cream liner. I loved doing messy, hipster fabulous cat eyes with it, set with black shadow. With a primer, it lasted for ages and stayed put excellently. I loved how I could create a messy look, not have a messy look by accident, because of a runny, smearing eye product gone wrong. The product is great- but the packaging is terrible! I knew that the product was retractable but I could not make the product come up when I twisted on the handle. You easily use up the little nub it comes with, because it is so creamy and easily flattens. I fiddled with it enough to know that there is product within the chamber of the pencil, but now I need to depot it and rescue it. I like to depot lipsticks into plastic film holders, they work just great, although they are a little bulky. I definitely need to salvage this baby, asap! Maybelline needs to repackage this, THEN I will be raving about how truly fabulous it is!

Pretty good gel liner

I got this awhile back, when I was hunting for an affordable creme/gel eye liner. I think I wanted the pure black shade, but somehow managed to get the charcoal one. I like the shimmer in this though, and it makes me think of Urban's Oil Slick liquid liner. The brush was actually pretty good, surprisingly. The handle was sturdy and easy to manage, and the brush had a nice stiffness and the silkiness of synthetic brush hair. I used this liner for a cute cat eye look. I used the edge of an old library/credit, etc. card to create a fine, straight edge, for the side of my wing. I thought it came out pretty well, and the brush worked really well too. This hasn't dried out on me yet- which is amazing given the fact all my other drugstore/elf creme liners have. The pigmentation is pretty good, but needs to be built up, and I think there is a tendency for the product to crumble up a little. I plan on playing around with this an eyeshadow base, and using different eye brushes with it. I love the packaging, and there is a good amount included in the little pot. So far, I have really liked Maybelline's Eye Studio products, except for a few problems, here and there. I do want to purchase more of these at some point, but I'm happy with Charcoal, for the most part.

Nice shine, feel and look- but not very pigmented!

I've been obsessed with the whole tinted lip balm/lip butters/sheer lipstick craze, so I decided to check these out. The packaging is adorable- feminine, classy and decadent. I've carried this around in my pouch/purse, with no melting or caps coming off to be seen. The bullet of the lip product has the same slanted top as the Revlon lip butters. The bullet looks a vibrant, light pastel pink. You have to apply at least three layers of product to get a swatch on your hand to show any hint of pink. These have a brilliant, silky shine, but Pink Satin leaves a very fine hint of pink on the lips, if any. You must coat your lips at least three or four times to get any real sense of pink color. Pink Satin has a buttery, slightly greasey feel on the lips, with a beautiful shine, almost that of a gloss, and a hint of pink. A pink lip liner or lipstick would help make the pink pop, and Pink Satin would make a great gloss over that. I am dissapointed with the lack of pigmentation, especially since the product in the bullet is such a pretty pink. However, I still enjoy the product's feel and look, and its wear time is at the most 1 to 2 hours, way longer than Maybelline's Baby Lips. I don't feel a significant moisturizing effect, and it has a somewhat weird taste/and fragrance,( that I've read other Beautylish folks have found other L'oreal lip products to have) but thats alright. Will I be rushing out to buy every shade? No. But I'm content with Pink Satin, despite its lack of pigmentation. In a quick jiffie, this could even be used as a high shine, high lighter.
