Old favorite!

This shade is really "my lips but better" IMO. Its not the perfect lighter colored nude lip (STILL on the hunt for that), but for natural lips, its the perfect lipstick. I used this as a young teen and have since de-potted the sad remainder into a plastic film receptacle- they are great for storing little bits and bobs (hair-ties, etc.) I do have plenty of product left, and will be fine to use with a good lip brush, thankfully. Looking back as a makeup obsessed addict now, I realized that the makeup I was into then was actually flattering for my skin tone- using creamy, frosty eye shadow pencil/sticks to rim my eyes in a pretty way, or using golds and bronzes on my green/blue eyes- go figure! (My foundation fears, and total lack thereof, even with full on smokey eyes- Not so much) Lipstick wise, If any one has read my other goofy reviews about this lipstick line, Rose Velvet does not disappoint. Its smooth, creamy and opaque, with a satin finish, me thinks. The color is slightly unique but certainly wearable. Its a rosey, dusky, deep pink, with yellow/neutral undertones, yet also cooler and mauvey. To glam it up, just swipe on some gloss for a girly, modern take, or wear as is- it gives a soft, romantic vibe to any look. I love pairing it with lavenders and especially rosey colors on the cheeks and eyes for a truly flattering and darling monochromatic look. I might even use it as a cheek base, with some mauvey blush over it to accentuate and set the color. I feel very English rose when wearing it, Its understated but enough different to remark on one's pout. So here's cheers to an old standby!

Pretty good, a few issues

I have been reading about this on Beautylish for ages and finally decided to get one. I knew I wanted a pink one, or Nude Touch, and I opted for Nude Touch for some random reason I can't remember. The packaging is super cute but SO SKINNY. I don't know if these glosses have your standard amount of product or these are on the skimpy size, but still full priced. Either way, there was no way you could tell how tiny these are from the pictures. I'm probably being a whiny drama queen, and these have plenty of product, but it just irked me when I got it. Nude Touch is a great medium pink with tons of shimmer and shine, a nice taste and a vanilla scent. The applicator is a little annoying and gets goopy but is easy enough to wipe clean, and I can always use a lip brush. All in all these are great- but a little over hyped and I don't think I would repurchase seeing as how there are other glosses out there without these little problems, and there are so many others on my wishlist. Glad I tried this out though!

I have been wanting a product like this for eons- finally got it!

I have been wanting the Clinique Chubby Sticks for eons and all of the Tarte lip products similar to these for ages. When I saw this in stores, I eyed it for awhile, then finally snatched up the shade "Darling". I love your standard pinks and reds, but I've been in love with any purple based lip products so when I saw this lavender shade, I knew I needed to get it! The packaging is really cute- although a little long, and the crayon tip is super cute and easy to use. I love using the tip to trace around my lips and the side of the nub to shade in the color. Darling on bare lips looks pink with a purple/blue shine. Its silky and smooth to the touch with the pigmentation of a sheer lipstick and the sheen and sparkle of a gloss. Darling also has blue/purple finely milled glitter which gives the lips an adorable "pop". On the first application I was surprised by the great pigmentation, smooth feel and adorable applicator. Super pleased and happy these were a success! I am an AVID fan of the lip butter/balm/stain craze, and these won't let you down. They are a great alternative to other similar lip products, and you can find them at the drugstore. Love the Burt's Bees like peppermint tingle too!

Love these lipsticks, NOT this shade!

I recently purchased Pink Pout and Sky Pink after wanting them for the longest time and they are PERFECT. I was hunting for the perfect, blue/yellow based pink, Barbie pink, Nicki Minaj pink- and I hit the jackpot! Anyway, I'll rave about those in a separate review. The Nude Attitude shade I got a long time ago, before I knew about the amazing pinks in their matte line. I couldn't really see the true color of the lipstick through the clear window, and of course, the sticker with the name and shade was misleading. When I put it on, it looked like an orange concealer! I know I can "resurrect" this by mixing and adding diff. products over it to fix the super warm shade, but I was so annoyed by this! In the meantime, I'll use this as concealer if need be, and I'll use it in my MUA kit for people with warmer undertones. So, it wasn't a complete fail, but I was sort of bummed, to say the least.

My perfect shade of red!

Cherries in the Snow (440, Creme) is a great lippie for people with cooler skin undertones. Its a vibrant, blue based red that's super bright and rich. I love using it for statement red lips! Its super creamy and has great staying power and is so versatile- blot it into the lips for a rosy, flushed lip stain, or layer over penciled in lips for a full, pouty lip with precise, clean lines. Its the perfect lipstick for any pin-up look and because its cooler toned it won't bring out the yellows in your teeth like a red-orange based lipstick might do. I want to use this for rouge as well as a lipstick- to get a perfect match, and create a harmonious makeup look! :D

My go to for dramatic, statement lips!

I love this shade and Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipsticks, in general. Black Cherry is the perfect shade for those edgy, gothy and dramatic lips. In the bullet, Black Cherry is a deep, almost maroon black. When swatched and when worn, it is a deep, wine red, on the cooler side. This is the perfect lipstick to go over black lipliner for a really deep color, or to top a lipliner in a similar hue. Add a touch of shadow or gloss over the lipstick for added shimmer and shine, or blot it for a more matte look. Press it into the lips in small coats, building up the color for a more lip stain look. I love this color when doing dramatic, theatrical, goth inspired looks- or vintage, 30's, Parisian looks. Its hipster fabulous and just all around vampy. For one color, it has so many makeup look uses! I don't recall any significant dried out lips and the formula is silky, spreadable and creamy. Pair it with a balm, over and under the lipstick for added moisture and a subtle sheen. You don't need to look to higher end brands for a deep, rich, black cherry shade- this one's a gem hidden right in your local drugstore! This is a must have lipstick shade! I'm planning to use this as a cheek color.

OK foundation, has a few issues

I don't want to ramble, but there is more than meets the eyes with these puppies! As with many of you gals, I found this foundation to be a little annoying/inconsistent. That's partially due to my being more of a foundation/makeup beginner though. I can't remember which shade I got first, but I know I got a shade too light, almost just right, then one that was too dark. Porcelain Ivory Light 1 is a touch too light, Classic Ivory Light 2 is more my shade, Pure Beige Medium 2 is too dark. I know I kept running back to the store to find the right shade, which is a little annoying, but not a big deal. For labeling these products so well- with descriptive names (Porcelain Ivory), skin tones (Light, Medium), and numbers ( 1, 2, etc.) that go from the lightest to the darkest, these foundations were still somehow confusing. I actually don't mind having a few xtras because I can use them on clients, and the lightest shade would make a great base for more pale/gothy/white powdered makeup looks. Silly me, as a makeup noob, I didn't realize "matte", as far as this foundation goes, was for more oily skins that needed to matte down extra shine. I have super dry skin, with some oil, but I usually look for creamy, moisturizing foundation formulas. I might have thought this foundation line would be helpful because it was creamy in consistency. Anyway, it applied fine, I used my fingers and spread out the crumbly consistency (like the creme blushes from this line). But looking back at a picture I took of this makeup, my face looked flaky. I think this might have been before I learned of the absolute importance of exfoliation before moisturizer/primer/foundation, especially for dry skins! These foundations also have tricky undertones. Porcelain Ivory has pink undertones, Classic Ivory has peachy undertones and Pure Beige has more orangey undertones, I would say. I definitely think I will have more luck with these If I exfoliate and prime first, and I hear these work better as a concealer- they are thick and easy to pat down with a finger, and their peachy undertones might do double duty as a dark circle corrector. So, one might find multiple uses for these, but the whole point to getting them was to just wear them as foundation. If you really need a good foundation from the drugstore, I would be hesitant to recommend them because of all these little issues. I hear there is way more better options out there. These have their perks, don't get me wrong, but for all the inconsistencies I'm surprised they haven't been discontinued. Another perk, however- is the size. A little bulky for MU collections and kits, but you still get a ton of product, and the creme blushes, and these foundations never dry out and always stay creamy- another plus. Also- this product can be used as a lip primer- to white out your lips, and might make a good eye primer- if it doesn't crease and you set it with translucent powder. I don't mind using this for a heavy-duty facial concealer when I'm breaking out.

A beauty dream come true!

I got this as a wonderful Christmas present from my mom. She wasn't sneaky enough about hiding the box with the Sephora logo on it- so it became an early Christmas gift, lets say :) I opened the box and gasped- The beautiful black box with the Sephora logo was truly breath-taking. This kit makes me remember being a little girl collecting and playing dress up with makeup. I loved storing my Lip Smackers in my Caboodles case. This kit is the grown up version of those crappy store bought makeup kits from your pre-teens and childhood! I'm astounded by all the eye shadow colors. I haven't used all of them yet, and judging by how many there are- I might not ever be able to use them all! But I'll have fun trying. There is a wonderful mix of matte and shimmer eye shadow shades. I won't need to get any of the Coastal Scents or B and H palettes now! There are what seems to be millions of glosses I still need to play with, as well as wonderful gel liners, including a creamy, high performance black- perfect for cat eyes. The blush and bronzers in this kit are really something. I adore each one and every time I wear them my cheeks look glowing, sculpted and luscious. You get a brown and black mini eyeliner and a mini mascara on top of everything else. I love how thick and sturdy this kit is, and how it has unfolding legs- either way the kit is easy to use, with legs extended or not! It is also equipped with a large, very useful mirror. This was about 50 bucks and it came with a bunch of samplers that I also have been enjoying. This kit is perfection and anyone who loves makeup will love this!

Nice moisturizer

I got this in a sample size mini tube along with a few other samplers with the purchase of my Sephora Collection Makeup Studio Blockbuster (Holiday 2011- Limited Edition) kit. Gotta love Sephora for throwing in excellent samplers along with your big purchase! I really like this brand's design- its elegant, fresh and clean-feeling. My mini tube is very small, but has enough product to last a long time. It is equipped with a precision point tip for dispensing little squirts of product. I like to use this cream on the beginning and middle of my brows because they can be very dry and flaky, as well as my dry T zone. A trick I learned from my beauty school instructor was to apply moisturizer after foundation application if your foundation was getting gunky because of unruly dry skin. Slathering this on after my TM/BBcream/foundation in my dry spots- Tzone, brows, around my nose seems to help a bit and feels very refreshing. Its also great to use after exfoliating the dry skin around the bridge of my nose and under my brows/eye area. The dispenser is great for adding a dollop to the back of your hand (using your hand as a palette) and taking what you need from that dollop. The creme has a fresh, light, almost floral scent that is not over-powering at all. Just the tiniest dollop spreads over a large portion of skin. It is very creamy and cooling. I would love to get this in its full size, as well as get more Caudalie products. Its pricey stuff, but of very high quality and performance.

Your standard finishing powder for less $

I needed a finishing/setting/translucent powder to set my makeup and I stumbled upon this at the drugstore. I had been having a lot of luck with Maybelline products so I decided to get this. The packaging is cute, classy and minimalist. The plastic of the container seems pretty sturdy and resistant to breakage and the cap seals tightly. I keep my basic face products in a small/medium sized leopard print pouch and the cap to this product never budged- so no messy powder spills in my makeup bag. There is also a TON of product- this thing will last me forever! Also, I think this is probably just as nice as any high end finishing powder ( not 100% sure of course) but its relatively cheap- thats a win! I do like the little brush it came with- I thought it was gonna be cheap, crappy and un-usable like they usually are. I was pleasantly surprised. It came with a mini kabuki with a sturdy plastic handle and a bundle of dense, white hair (synthetic or real?). The "hair" is a little coarse, especially at the top, but its also kind of smooth. A few swirls over my face doesn't seem to irritate my skin. As far as the powder goes I use it to set my foundation/TM/BB cream, and I think it might help cut down the shine of BB/TMs, most likely because of the added SPF. I think it makes my skin a little smoother, and blots down extra moisture. It might help cut down the transfer factor too. Its true that the holes inside let in lots of powder, so I usually just use the powder that accumulates on the underside of the cap, instead of the inner chamber. That and the feeling that I don't notice much of a difference with the way my makeup feels/looks are the only cons for this product. I might just like the act of setting my makeup and feeling reassured that its "set" more than this product actually "working". I would recommend this to beginners to makeup or anyone who wants to play around with inexpensive loose powders. This might help people with oily skin more than me, too. I also avoid powdering my t zone because its extremely dry and is prone to flakes and gunked up face product.
