Beauty Product Reviews

Sticky icky

I know this generally receives rave reviews, but it simply did not work for me. My biggest problem was the texture. It was thick, sticky, and extremely difficult to blend. I was surprised, because I generally like Benefit products.

More than just cute!

Okay, I'll admit it...I bought these brushes because they were irresistibly cute. But surprise, surprise, they work quite well! Very good at grabbing hold of, applying, and blending shadows. I gave them four stars instead of five only because I feel my Stila brushes do a slightly better job at blending. But the cute lil' heads actually make these guys easier to hold! If you're on the fence about these brushes because you're thinking they might just be a gimmick, you should go ahead and get them because they seriously do their job.

The only curler worth using

The title of my review says it all. As far as I'm concerned, no other eyelash curler can hold a candle to this one. If I could no longer use the Shu Uemura curler, I wouldn't bother using one at all. Truth.

Takes on my oily skin

I hate having oily skin, but this mask has really made it more manageable. I use it once a week, and it clears my pores like nothing else. it also helps keep my skin much more matte, without drying it out at all. My skin is softer, clearer, and less shiny after using it, and my pores are less visible without all the gunk in them. My one complaint is that mixing this mask can get messy. It's a powder, and when you mix it with water (or various juices, as I know some people do) you inevitably get muddy green liquid all over the place, no matter how careful you are. Also, getting the right powder/liquid consistency can be tricky, causing you to use more of the product than you intended if you don't feel it's thick enough.

My Go-to lip color

When long-lasting dual-ended lip colors first came out, they inevitably turned my sensitive lips into the Sahara. I was therefore expecting the driest of results when I tried out this lip color (it belonged to a friend and we were just playing around). When I woke up the next day with the color still there and no dryness in sight, I was dumbfounded. And now I use this almost every day. My shade of choice is Perennial Plum, which goes beautifully with my fair, cool-toned skin. Now, as another reviewer cautioned, if you reapply this product throughout the day (which you shouldn't need to do) you can expect dryness and peeling. Also, applying the color on top of lips that have been freshly moistened with Chapstick, etc. will give you a less long and strong hold. If you want moisture, that's what the gloss is for. And it gives you that moisture pretty much around the clock, so try to resist Chapstick binges, which can also backfire with this product. The one dual-ended long-lasting lip color I've tried that works better than this is Maybelline Superstay (it's like titanium!) and I can't seem to find it in stores anymore. :(

Defies all odds

My fine hair is easily stiffened by hairspray, but at the same time, it won't hold a curl. I read about this spray in a mag and figured it was exactly what I needed, as long as the rumors were true. Thankfully, they were. This hairspray gives me the majorly strong hold I need with zero stickiness, stiffness, or dryness. I didn't think that was possible until now. And if course, the price can't be beat.

Pretty...Messy

This is a pretty highlighter...if you can manage to get past the strange, nailpolish-like applicator and liquidy texture that make application messy and awkward! I used this for awhile because, like I said, the color was quite lovely. But after I tired of the slippery, unblendable stickiness, I ultimately switched to highlighting with powders and shadows.

Miracle Mask!

I use this weekly slong with a green clay mask by Burt's Bees. The BB mask is for controlling my oily skin and cleaning my pores. This one is forbrightening my skin and improving its texture and tone. The packaging makes it very easy to dispense the right amount with absolutely no mess. It smells like orange marmalade and makes my face itch a little when it's on, but the results are worth both those aspects, as well as worth the price tag! My skin is noticeably brighter and smoother throughout the following week, and this is coming from a skin mask skeptic. I've never had any dryness or irritation from using this mask. Just fantastic results. Can't live without it!

A Disappointment

I purchased this blush when I couldn't find my old standby, Maybelline's Drream Mousse blush. I figured they replaced it with this supposedly innovative concoction, seeing as how they both use the word "Dream." I can't figure out why they made the change, however, because this product is, in my opinion, a step down from my discontinued fave. It doesn't blend nearly as well, nor does it last as long. The color I chose was Rose Petal (the store I was at didn't have the plum shades I usually go for), and it doesn't do anything for me. It's just...blah. I'm on a tight budget, so I'm determined to make this stuff work and not switch brands until it all runs out, but man is there a lot of product in that little case! I will give it that! Finally, as far as the whole "bouncy texture" thing goes, if you don't know what that means now, trying this product won't give you the answer. I've been begrudgingly using this for awhile now, and I neither feel, nor see any "bounce."

Love it! But does it still exist?

This was my ONLY blush for the longest time, and I suddenly can't find it anymore! I used the Soft Plum shade, which was perfect on my fair/cool-toned skin. I loved the creamy texture. So easy to blend and natural-looking, and because it had a matte finish, the color stayed put all day, even on my oily skin. Dream Mousse Blush, where did you go??
