Is it me or are the Mac employee's freakin rude. I don't know how they are in other states but the employee's in NYC are just rude. I go into a MAC store most (not all) of the employee's seem like they don't want to help or that there better than you. I just feel uncomfortable going in there like I have no right to wear make-up. Its a shame too because I could spend some serious money in there but don't. Does anyone else feel like that?

The MAC customer service is horrible at the malls near me (Philly.). They always look at my over the top drag makeup and look at me like I'm a clown or something, when my makeup looks ten times better than some of theirs. I can't stand it, I dread going into mac most of the time.

First off let me say your make-up looks gorgeous! I don't think your make-up looks drag at all. I think most of the workers in MAC have over the top drag make-up. I love going into sephora. Every time I go into sephora they greet you and help you out to the fullest with no attitude.

I do find MAC makeup artist to be rude also. I know for a fact that to work for MAC they want your face" beat" even if you have on a nude ish look. They are required to wear at least three products on their eyes alone, contoured face with lipstick, lip liner, and gloss. Why because they are representing the product, and just like many shoots its the same way.

Its a shame because I really love Mac products. I or anyone else should noy have to deal with the nasty treatment.

I'm in Salt Lake City, and yes they are kind of rude here too! I met a girl who used to work for mac and they have a sales quota they have to meet everyday. I don't know in other states but here in SLC the only mac store is at Nordstrom. People who usually go in there have a lot of money. I think the mac artists treat their customers based on appearance. My opinion. :)

I feel the same way. But I also have seen people (costumers) being very rude to them (which I think is wrong too) :S

There's only on MAC store by me and every time I go to it they don't even acknowledge my existence. I never buy anything because I feel so unwelcome and awkward. The ladies that work there are also really intimidating when they do see me- they always scowl at me and give me dirty looks. Oh well, I can go my whole life without buying MAC anyway :) I'll just spend all my money elsewhere!!

I've surprisingly never had too many problems. When I went to the MAC counter in Nordstrom, people paid attention to me and helped me out. I remember when I went there for the first time ever and the woman I talked to was just the nicest sales person ever.
However, I did go to another MAC... a little store as a part of Belk (but it wasn't IN Belk, it was its separate little store) and I was ignored for about 15 minutes, ha. I just wanted a damn lipstick.

I love the people at my MAC store (in FL), but most of the time I'd rather be left alone to look around. I had heard that the employees in the Pro stores are rude, but I've been to the Pro store in Orlando and they are very nice as well.

Its sad if they do judge by appearance because I'm not a person who doesn't care about her appearance. Plus its a store in the bronx (that should sum it up)...lol. Ashley if I had my car I would go there. If I took the train it would take me two hours to get there verses 15 minutes. :(

Oh yeah the bx is another world but , i wont go there but def make the trip it's def worth the time. I got really bad acne and she did my whole face to cover it up and showed me what to put first and so on. And she matched my skin color exactly. I went in there with NO make up. Sephora store people are helpful too there's one on union sq in the city might be easier for u to get there from the bx. Even though they do not sell Mac stuff there but they have TONS of makeup and skin, and hair care stuff I love it.

@Pamela the Mac store in soho (broadway/broome street) they are pretty nice there. I've been there quite a few times on my makeup and no makeup-wearing days. It'sa recently opened location to, and ditto to ashley, queens center mall the store (def NOT the macys counter) are pretty helpful.

The stores by me ( Palm Beach and Boca Raton, FL) are super rude!!! But i must admit when I used to go in there I felt intimidated and like I wasnt pretty enough to buy MAC makeup.... atleast thats how they made me feel!! But since I have become a MUA, and go in there quite often and spend a good amount of money, they are so sweet to me! They judge you based on your appearance you know? If you are a makeup artist like them, they will "accept" you in a way which is really sad :/ so many people ask me why I dont work for MAC... and its because of the people that work there already! I count not deal with that caddy-ness and rudeness. and they all have their bitch face on lock down.... until they know you mean business lol.

I've seen a lot of bad experiences with mac employe's from people who lives in USA. I'm living in Quebec (Canada) and i went to at least 10 mac stores and every time i had an EXCELLENT service! People are so nice, maybe to much because i always end up buying to much stuff! ahahha

I'm in California & have encountered quite a few rude MAC employees but guess what, I don't give a flying f**k anymore about them, they have been so rude that I decided to ignore them. I go in there knowing what I want ahead of time by doing research online, so its a quick visit, i'm in & out! Don't feel intimidated by these rude employees, they are there to "serve you", you have the right to go in there & buy whatever you want anytime you want. Its NOT their money, its yours! so please girl, do your thang. Rude ones are usually the unhappy souls who are obviously miserable in life & just take it out on others for no reason. IGNORE THEM.

@ Ashley I started off going downtown but said to myself stay close to home because I knew I was going to spend a lot of money...lol. @Mary Now I do my research and get in and out because I can't deal with them. I'm not intimidated I try not to get loud. I don't want to get kicked out of a store. :O

I live in Canada, so it's not just a States thing. I've found very few girls in MAC actually helpful. Generally when I go in there I'm in there for a specific product so I have no problem going up to the first person who's not doing anything and requesting the products so I can just get out of there. Last summer when feather extensions were cool, I had a pink and turquoise one in and the artist grabbed it and said something along the lines of it looked good and it was a good combination of purple and green. I was just shocked and blinking before I told him that's not the colors they were, they were also called "cotton candy" on the package.
They usually ignore me if I go in swatching and go right to another customer because of how young I look. Sometimes they make me feel so guilty about asking them to do their job and interupt their texting session. They usually talk down to me, as well. Sephora is across the hallway from my MAC store so I'll avoid it and have no shame in saying "yeah, I like having sales reps I can actually get feedback from." and walk across to Sephora.

In Minneapolis they're super nice and helpful. I think a lot of it is perception. Maybe they aren't actually being rude. It's usually pretty busy in there and they're trying to help lots of people. Their goal is to make sales, not drive them away. If they are actually being rude to you, like saying something offensive, I would talk to upper management.

This is a very common complaint. Personally, I think many MAC employees have a superiority complex and come off as very aloof, but I wouldn't describe them as intentionally "rude" in general. With that said, I'll admit to having a few unpleasant experiences with MAC employees.
At the end of the day, you're the customer. Set them straight and make sure they know you aren't putting up with their shit because at the end of the day, they're working for your money. You're the one with the power in this situation. Don't give them your money if you don't like their service.

I live in California and I have gone into a many of Mac stores and Mac counters and I do have to agree that often the makeup artist are rude and seem uninterested in helping you out. I find that when I go to a Mac counters most of the times the people are not that helpful they often have dry attitudes and not all that helpful so when I find one that is nice I will wait on him or her on the next visit. Usually I have better experiences when I go to a Mac store I usually have a better experience there.
One thing I have to give Sephora, anytime I have ever gone into a Sephora store everyone is always so nice, cheerful and helpful.
