I really don't understand mineral makeup, what makes it so different from regular makeup?

Well for me, I have sensitive skin, so it feels a lot nicer on my skin. Feels kind of cooling for my rosacea as well. And if you apply it right, it doesn't look cakey like most liquid foundations I've tried out. I guess it really depends on the person.

It doesn't let you break out as bad as regular makeup.

Thanks :) I was just so confused as I had no idea what made it so different from regular makeup!

It's a lot lighter than most liquid foundation or powder! More natural feeling!

Well I've been using just mineral makeup and suncreen for a week now, and now I have no clogged pores, all my pimples are steadily going away, my hyperpigmentation issues seem better, and my skin looks hell of a lot less dull and splotchy. Need I say more? No way Im going back to traditional cosmetics anytime soon.

I've used mineral makeup for a year and I'm not a big makeup wearer and for me it felt as if I wasn't wearing any even though I was .

I've used a few different brands of mineral makeup and it kept my skin much clearer. It did make my face feel like it was burning when I would sweat.

Hmmm, I might have to look into this! Does it ever look too powdery? Because that's what I worry about.

It *can* depending on the brand. My first mineral foundation was a Clinique product and I hated it, wrong color and did not mix with my skin well (I have dry skin so it may work if you have oily skin). About a month ago I decided to buy a Bare Minerals foundation and I love it. It really goes on like a liquid, incredibly natural look and feel. I highly recommend trying it but you can save $10 if you order from Amazon by the way!

Personally not a huge fan of mineral makeup but everyone is different. I used Bare Escentuals and whenever I took a break from it and started using it again, it would break me out and I rarely break out in general. A lot of mineral makeup has Bismuth Oxide which is a skin irritant so I would be wary of that.
The only mineral makeup I have used and liked was Jane Iredale foundations but it's pretty pricey and wouldn't purchase the full size products for that reason.

I have been using Bare Escentuals for a few years now and I am in love with it! I have tried to use liquid foundations but they were too heavy for my skin so this product is perfect for me! It blends evenly for a natural finish. Never cakey or powdery and I don't break out from it. Their primer is perfect with their foundation and gives a smooth and pore-less look! Love mineral makeup :)

I like it because I feel it lasts longer and it feels very light, it's not cakey, doesn't clog pores. I love it! I use bare essentials by the way

Other brands seem to be quite expensive and I don't want to spend all my money on something I may not like. What is the elf mineral range like?

I personally love the elf mineral foundation. It goes on super smooth and it lasts pretty much all day for me (even in the Florida humidity). It doesn't cake at all, and it doesn't feel super heavy like liquid does. I HIGHLY recommend the elf.

Zoe, with mineral you won't go through it as fast. Mine will last about 9 months with daily use. I used to use Bare Minerals but I wasn't caring too much for the look around my nose. But now I'm using Jane Iredale and I LOVE IT!! It cost 42.00. You won't be disappointed.

As much as I loved my Bobbi Brown liquid foundation I went ahead and decided to not pick up another replacement bottle once I ran out. Especially since I have my skin where I wanted it to be...clear and relatively scar free. So now I rotate between Bobbi Brown Mineral Foundation and BM Mineral Tint and two bb creams and my skin couldn't be more happier. With the high humidity in my part of FL my skin does better with mineral and bb creams than traditional liquid foundation. My face stays intact for 8 hours.
