4 Easy Halloween Makeup Looks for a Virtual Party

2

Halloween cannot and will not be canceled in 2020. We just have to adjust our standards a bit.

Instead of pulling up to a crowded event in a head-to-toe costume, pop into the gallery view of a virtual party with a spirited look from the neck up and a themed Zoom background. It’s simple, really.

This year, I’ve created 4 easy Halloween looks inspired by the addictive content you’ve been consuming this year. Read on for step-by-step makeup guides referencing Tiger King , Animal Crossing, Jurassic World 3 , and Baby Shark.

Each look offers a downloadable Zoom background to accompany your choice of costume, illustrated by Megan Badilla.

Look #1: Cool Cat (or kitten)

The Tiger King era of quarantine feels like a total fever dream, but the Netflix show’s eclectic cast of characters will forever live on in our hearts and memes. This year, display your stripes with neon orange makeup paired with a Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin-themed Zoom background.

What You’ll Need:

  • Neon orange cream color
  • Black cream color with a matte finish
  • Metallic Forest green cream color with a matte finish
  • Soft beige lip liner
  • Blush-toned brown lipstick
  • Spiky accent lashes
  • Makeup sponge
  • Small pencil brush
  • Eye shadow brush
  • Liner brush

Face:

  1. Dip the rounded edge of your beautyblender into a dime-sized amount of neon orange cream color, like Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix 24-Hour Cream Color Neon in Jellybean and apply to your face in a three-shaped formation. Starting at the outer part of your forehead, bounce the color under cheekbones. Continue application under your chin and onto your neck. Thoroughly blend.

  2. Using a small pencil brush, create your stripes with a true black cream color like Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix 24-Hour Cream Color Matte in Blackout. Dip your brush into the color and create small, jagged strokes on top of the orange cream color. Concentrate application on your forehead, under your cheekbones and onto your neck.

  3. Using your pencil brush and the black cream color, trace the bottom part of your nose and fill in the tip.

  4. Create a black line starting from your nose and ending above your Cupid’s bow. Add small black dots on either side of the line, then create whisker-like strokes.

Eyes:

  1. Dip a flat brush into your neon orange cream color and apply it to your lids. Let dry.

  2. With a liner brush, create sharp cat eyes. Glide the black cream color along your lash lines and wing outward. Go back to the inner corner of your eyes and trace your tear ducts for a pronounced feline effect.

  3. Dip your liner brush into a metallic, forest green color, like Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix 24-Hour Cream Color Matte in Secret Garden. Apply the shade to your lower lash lines to add rich green color to the look.

  4. Curl your lashes, apply mascara, then apply spiky accent lashes for extra fierceness.

Lips:

  1. Line your lips with a soft beige lip liner, like Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Iconic Nude.

  2. Fill in lips with a terracotta-blush shade like Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick in Latte to complete the look.

Look #2: Star-studded Celeste

It can feel pretty rare to encounter the starstruck, red-feathered owl Celeste in the video game series, Animal Crossing. But, if you’re lucky enough to find her stargazing late at night, she’d be happy to share with you her love of constellations and extensive zodiac knowledge. This Halloween, recreate the outgoing owl’s defining features and pair with a star-filled Zoom background that would leave Celeste speechless.

What You’ll Need:

· Cherry red cream color with a matte finish

· Loose holographic glitter dots

· Coral cream blush

· Neon bubblegum pink cream color

· Black eyeliner

· Black eye pencil

· Yellow cream color with a matte finish

· Feathered false lashes

Face:

  1. Dip the rounded edge of your beautyblender into a dime-sized amount of cherry red cream color, like Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix 24-Hour Cream Color Matte in Fruit Punch. Bounce the sponge along the perimeter of your face and down the sides of your neck. Blend thoroughly.

  2. Celeste’s defining feature is her plumicorns that resemble eyebrows. To create, use an angled detail brush to trace the perimeters of your brows with your red cream color. With a spoolie, brush the color through your brows to fill completely.

  3. With a glitter adhesive, create a trail of equidistantly spaced holographic glitter dots to mimic Celeste’s brow design.

  4. Pat on a coral-hued cream blush, like Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Above and Beyond onto the apples of your cheeks.

Eyes:

  1. With a flat brush, apply a bright pink cream color to your lids for eyes inspired by Celeste’s bow. I recommend Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix 24-Hour Cream Color Neon in Bubblegum.

  2. With black liquid liner, create a thick line on your upper lash line.

  3. Line your lower lash and water line with black eye pencil and blend the color to smoke out.

  4. Add feathery false lashes.

Lips:

To create Celeste’s beak, use your liner brush and a yellow cream color, like Danessa Myricks Beauty ColorFix 24-Hour Cream Color Matte in Primary Yellow to trace and fill out your pout.
