After being on BL, do you find yourself paying more attention to others make up?

Yes! I've never paid attention period to how others were dressed or did their make up. I notice so many things people do wrong now that its kind of painful to look!
It seems that extreme brows and blush are a growing trend.

Seriously yes. If I'm first meeting a girl (something I do a lot as a member of a sorority), all I can focus on is her makeup. If her eyeliner is wrong or wonky, I stare at it and wish I could fix it. I notice cracks in lipstick, bad concealer, mismatched foundation, eyeshadow. I don't notice so much if it's correctly done and the girl looks pretty, but if there's something wrong I can't tear my gaze away.

Lol I'll stop now. But yes people have to chill with this whole "perfect" eyebrows.

Oh wow!! Yes!! I do and I just can't believe some mistakes that I used to do and that people do.

Lawd, I saw someone on beautylish with brows like the 2nd pic Nala posted.

But I've always paid attention to people's makeup, even before beautylish, I would even watch tv shows and try to predict what products they used to get a certain look for the actors. I'd look at magazines and pictures, and look at every detail of the models face lol.

I can actually tell when girls wear foundation because they don't know how to blend worth a darn where I live. And fake lashes have gotten completely out of hand. Lashes aren't wings. Girls blink and it looks like they're going to fly away

I saw some lady at Walgreens who used liquid eyeliner all glossy and shiny to draw on brows.
Then to top it off, not only were they thick but they were too long and about a mm of being a uni brow. And she drew them square for some unknown reason.
I don't know if it was a joke or serious cause this lady was like in her mid fifties at least and dressed in business attire lol.
Then there is this lady at my local Walmart.
She likes to line her lips and not wear lipstick. And she doesn't even do it with her natural shape.
I know if bad make up makes them happy you shouldn't complain but I'm sure if someone taught them proper application they'd be very happy and grateful.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and blame all of the contouring/brows/nude lips on the Kardashians. Honestly those girls wear all that makeup because they're paid to, and they're photographed a lot. There's nothing real life practical about trying to make your face look like a new face. It's very frustrating to me.

I've never seen it where I live but when I do its no offense painful to look at (not trying to be mean) because you wanna fix it but at the same time you don't want to be rude.

Nicolet K.

And I agree with all of you.

I work inside a Wal-Mart (not for Wal-Mart lol) and my lawrdy the things I see! I've seen everything from bad brows and runny lips to nutella faces and clown contouring. @Hannah I agree with you on the whole Kardashian trend...there's more to makeup than HACing and big bat wing lashes

It's so true Hannah.
People forget that they have PROFESSIONALS doing their make up that understand application and color theory.
Although Kim K has a couple of make up tutorials online, even in those videos she states that THOSE are the colors that suit her.
The features they enhance are already there in some shape or form. Kim has full thick brows so she doesn't need to draw on full thick brows. She just has to fill in the gaps.
Then there are people with non existent brows drawing on brows bigger than a normal thick brow. Wth you are your own person find what's suited for you. Nude lipsticks do Not look good on everyone. Sometimes not wearing lipstick at all and just lightly patting in concealer is a good enough nude color.

And sometimes when your eyelashes are way to long they either look like caterpillars on you eyes or you want to fly away everytime you want to blink.

Kitty K.

^ Yup. There was a girl on here ( who turned out to be fake ) who posted a pic of her lashes in a thread I made asking about fake lashes. Needless to say I was like uhhhhhhh now I know which ones not to buy.
I think it's why I can't buy false lashes. I just feel like they are way too long and big. I might end up doing the ones with just the corners or individual lashes.

Honestly makeup trends frustrate me just like fashion trends. BE YOUR OWN MOTHER EFFING PERSON. Know that according to color theory, face shape, body shape, what looks good on one person will not necessarily look good on someone else. For example, winged eyeliner looks like crap on me because I have rounder eyes as opposed to super almondy eyes. KNOW YOUR SH*T.

Jan 21, 2014

Kirsten T.

YES! I just chringe at their mistakes and think "if only you had beautylish your makeup would look sooo much better." Haha.

Jan 21, 2014

Kirsten T.

Oh my gosh Nala your comment about false lashes... I know a few people like that.

Jan 21, 2014

Nala H.

I can't do fake lashes either. I only use Demi's when I do. Full lashes darn near touch my eyebrows. But the Demi's just emphasize the whole cat eye look.

Jan 21, 2014

Hannah K.

Yes! It's painful when I see people with dodgy drawn-on brows or a foundation tidemark, or even if their eyeshadow isn't properly blended, it annoys me so much! I actually feel like getting a brush and going 'right, I don't know you but we need to sort this!'
I notice it all the time now!

LOL at what Nala said about the lashes! too hilarious.
I alwayd notice when people don't bend there makeup, makes me just wanna Wipe all that makeup off!
where they wear long ass lashes, like it's Halloween.

I've always done it especially when I was learning so that I could see others peoples technique , but now I especially do because it seems like everyoneeeee wants to do makeup but won't actually sit there and learn how to. The amount of girls that were in my high school with huge brows and crazy eyelashes were ridiculous. Where I'm from most girls wear that and it's super annoying

Omg... the insane amount of concealer people put around their eyebrows.
And then there's concealing undereye bags with a lighter color - light brings it forward, you just look MORE TIRED and have bigger bags.
Jordan Liberty MUA even went out of his way to show on one of his models the difference of using a lighter concealer and a peachy concealer.
That video seriously needs to put put on blast.
