Thank you!!

The words bully and jealous are being thrown around so much these days they are starting to lose their meaning.

Bully: a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker. use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants.

Jealous: feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages.

and another I'd like to add

Criticism: the analysis and judgment of the merits and faults of a literary or artistic work. the expression of disapproval of someone or something based on perceived faults or mistakes.

Criticism is what helps you grow as a person and a artist. It's scary to me how many women are trying to suppress that by labeling every critic as a jealous bully.

Just unfortunate, what hate and jealousy?
see this is an absolutely tarnished view that works females to turn on each other and automatically brings out the ridiculous words used like Hate & Jealousy, bully for such a minor discussion like this that isn't even pressed to take personal. Thread coversations are just conversations whether you chose to agree or disagree no big deal but what the Big Deal could be is assuming a agreement or disagreements come straight from Envy, now that is awful. Those words being tossed around like it's the norm for females is frustrating like if we as women can't get passed ourselves or speak any view because it's an automatic Jealousy or hate is a low blow to any of our minds and choices. I refuse to believe any one on this thread no matter the comment have Envy Jealousy or hate for speaking their mind regardless if you agree or disagree.
I for one thought this thread was a great read and all shared their views nothing wrong with that.
I encourage all to continue to speak and share your thought's on any thread like women not go against each other with such vile disrespectful words like hate & jealousy.
Carry on and be kind with an open mind :)

I think everyone can do what they want...sounds like you're being kind of snarky towards Jaclyn hill. You can do what you want, she can do what she wants, whatever. Why all the hate and jealousy?

I don't know about tv makeup artists being fired for using techniques like baking... have you seen the things they do to sportscasters? I noticed wile watching the nhl playoffs this year that at least half of them have half or more of their eyebrows blocked out. Why? And the dark orange contours that are about 1/2 inch above the hollows of the cheek... how are can anyone possibly think that looks good on camera? Hell, how is it the sportscasters themselves don't look up and ask, "Um, where are my eyebrows?" Seriously. Jeremy Roenick must have gone through at least three tubes of concealer to make his brows disappear during the post season.

I honestly do not bake for one powerful reason, I'm dry skin and it does not enhance in any way my skin. If you have different skin type such as oily it might work if you use less layers or reduce using too much product. Let's keep in mind less is more, let your skin look like skin and not a mask.

If this is a true result of baking, why not post it accordingly? And if Jaclyn has dry skin as she claims, why do it? Youtubers are business. All the products she uses I have used countless times without any issue. I avidly use RCMA powder. It's almost undetectable when I use it. I never seen any texture from using it. I've used Urban Decay as well. I also invest time and money in my skin care.. I am always at my derma getting facials and med grade chemical peels. I do not have texture issues with my skin, but baking makes it appear so. I have gotten a good wear time by using the right combination of products and skin care and not dehydrating my skin with powder.
I know lots of girls look up to these Youtubers, but these YTers also need to follow laws accordingly and post when they are being sponsored.

Tia, I hold a certification in Adobe Photoshop and as someone whos been doing digital design for years, I can easily spot that Jaclyn's video is edited. I can see why professional make up artists do not bake and why someone pretending to be a pro would get kicked off of a set for trying.
Here's a photo of MannyMUA's face without all his editing from his Snap chat.
What's funny is that Snapchat does edit your face a bit, so I can only imagine how much he edits for his Youtube (Not to mention that these cameras tend to have a built in technology that also provides editing.)

Oh my! lol it truly was not that serious. I did not agree with some of the coments, which I have the right to, and that was that. I understand the definition of bullying.

Wow Kristen... I had no idea that was even Jaclyn Hill between Jeffree and Manny. My mouth is still kind of hanging open. I didn't even recognize her.

Well, this is a 'hot' kind of topic, and I can understand why you may disagree with some of the commentary here Liz, and I can respect that; like you said, everyone is entitled to their opinions. What I don't understand is why the word 'bully' was thrown into this thread. Not liking or appreciating some of the statements here is one thing, but throwing the word 'bully' out there is something completely different. To me, a bully is someone who intentionally and maliciously tries to hurt someone else in thought, word and deed, and I'm sorry, just don't see that here. I think we are all grown ladies that can appreciate each other's different points of view without insinuating that anyone here is being a 'bully'. Perhaps being a bully is open to interpretation, so I have posted 2 links that in my opinion, constitute bullying:

Thanks again Kitty for posting this thread. I really enjoyed reading everyones comments.  :)

I'm sorry if anyone's offended at my laughing but I don't feel that that makes me a bully or that I'm bashing others. I've really never seen unedited photos of these kinds of techniques and I personally think, based on the photo, that it looks kind of silly and that's my opinion.

It's all good. I understand. I just wanted to clarify just in case. :)

That was not what I was referring to when I used the word bully & I actually don't consider myself a fan, lol I just don't appreciate some of the comments on this thread. But I respect your opinion Kristen.

Liz: Jaclyn is a naturally gorgeous girl. I've never said otherwise. But in my opinion her makeup techniques are not flattering that natural beauty. They are creating texture that isn't there and changing her face shape in a way that isn't flattering to her. The pictures I posted are straight from their instagram pages. It's not like I edited them to make them look the way they do and the only reason why I chose them was because they were the most unedited out of all the photos on their pages. Without the editing you can see the texture and unblended lines that baking has caused. My posts all were meant to point out how misleading certain techniques from youtube guru's can be compared to how they look in real life without the studio lights.

It's great that you both admire, Jaclyn. There's nothing wrong with that. But just because somebody doesn't share your admiration does not make them a bully.

Totally* lol damn typos.

Totolly. Not saying anyone is wrong or right. There are just nicer ways of stating opinions, rather than "laughing" at others. IMO of course.

Thanks Liz but Kristen might have a point. I love Jaclyn Hill.

Lol oh lord. I believe there is a difference in stating an opinion, and in simply being a bully and bashing other people yall.

Alexis C.

I don't like Manny's makeup at all in that picture, I'm kind of laughing.

Aug 29, 2016

Kristen W.

And just another example... 3 different people all with different skin types... Same results.

Aug 29, 2016

Kristen W.

Tia: I really don't think skin type is going to affect the results, unfortunately. In this picture if you were to remove the skin smoothing from her sony a5100 camera you would see her results are exactly like Kitty's. But at the end of the day if that's how Jaclyn wants to where her makeup then that's up to her. :)

Maybe it worked for Jaclyn Hill and you don't have that type of skin.

Agree 100% Charli ^ (:

Ouch, lol this was a bit harsh but of course to each their own!

Thank you ladies for taking the time to share your thoughts. I hope we opened some eyes!

Update on my skin
Still felt dry so I soaked a mix of Drunk Elephants hydrating serum and Manuka honey... feels a lot better now! I didn't even want to wear foundation today after doing my eyes! I don't know how anyone would want to use that much powder.. so uncomfortable!

I wish I could take this entire post, and transfer it to my makeup group on FB. So many of my members don't understand why I don't support YouTube tutorials. I walk a fine line with what I say, I don't want to stir up controversy, but damn this whole thread knocked the topic out the park. Yes yes yes to it all!!
