Just unfortunate, what hate and jealousy?
see this is an absolutely tarnished view that works females to turn on each other and automatically brings out the ridiculous words used like Hate & Jealousy,bully for such a minor discussion like this that isn't even pressed to take personal. Thread coversations are just conversations whether you chose to agree or disagree no big deal but what the Big Deal could be is assuming a agreement or disagreements come straight from Envy, now that is awful. Those words being tossed around like it's the norm for females is frustrating like if we as women can't get passed ourselves or speak any view because it's an automatic Jealousy or hate is a low blow to any of our minds and choices. I refuse to believe any one on this thread no matter the comment have Envy Jealousy or hate for speaking their mind regardless if you agree or disagree.
I for one thought this thread was a great read and all shared their views nothing wrong with that.
I encourage all to continue to speak and share your thought's on any thread like women not go against each other with such vile disrespectful words like hate & jealousy.

The words bully and jealous are being thrown around so much these days they are starting to lose their meaning.
Bully: a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker. use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants.
Jealous: feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages.
and another I'd like to add
Criticism: the analysis and judgment of the merits and faults of a literary or artistic work. the expression of disapproval of someone or something based on perceived faults or mistakes.
Criticism is what helps you grow as a person and a artist. It's scary to me how many women are trying to suppress that by labeling every critic as a jealous bully.

Well, today I decided to try out Jaclyn Hills Baking and Contouring tutorial... Step by step!

How I felt about this
I would honestly not wear any sort of makeup. If I had to choose between 'baking a flawless face' and just going bare, I would go bare till I died.
My under eye area felt like someone took some sticky super glue, smeared on 5 layers of it with a knife and then powdered it.
My skin also felt so dehydrated after with all the powder on, I actually applied loads and loads of hydrating serum afterwards.
A lot of girls claim that it's meant to 'help control oily skin'.
I feel like if your skin makes so much oil that this looks good, then skin care needs to be evaluated.. not to mention that there are primers who can do the job without the over powdering.
Overall...
I can see why true professional makeup artists are not fond of YouTubers and Instagram. The only time this looked 'Flawless' was when I applied a 'skin blur filter'. And even then, you don't need so much powder for that anyway.
YouTubers and Instagrammers...

I know people like to bake, and to each their own...but for me, unless you are a stage performer or Betty Crocker, there's just no need to bake. :)

I agree with everything you said! Even though it's just makeup at the end of the day, I do think a lot of girls and women have an unrealistic idea of makeup nowadays. There's no reason to "bake" your makeup to that extent every day. The most I like to do is bake the tiny area under my eye where I know my concealer will crease after an 8 plus hour day. Everyday makeup should be put together but not require all these extra steps which may be better for an event or maybe a night out. What gets to me the most is the overuse of concealer, youtubers definitely use wayyyyyy more than needed lol. Wish we could shout this message from the rooftops.

Sabrina, the best way to describe it... imagine applying one of those hard clay/mud masks... and then applying your make up over it. So uncomfortable!

I never understood baking, I always thought it was ridiculous so I've never tried it. I do highlight with concealer but I don't pile it on like other people seem to do. When they blend it out it pretty much takes up their entire face and I'm always just sitting there like "you just have concealer face, this isn't even highlighting anymore". I don't use any kind of blurring tools or anything when I post to Instagram, I just mess with the contrast, shadows, etc. to make the colors look better rather than make my skin look smoother/more perfect because I know my skin texture doesn't look perfect and I'm okay with that.

Alexis, I will never understand why Jaclyn instructed to apply a foundation on and then to apply the amount of highlighter that I had to put on. It took up the majority of my face once blended out and it all I did was have an extra layer of texture.
I used MUFE Face and Body which is very natural.
Imagine these girls using these heavy matte foundations.. something like KVD which is very thick for a more 'full coverage' look or MAC... ew!
These YTers and IGers must have one hell of a budget for their dermatologists and estheticians!

I was always skeptical about baking myself. It looked like waaaaaay too much powder for anyone, let alone someone with dry skin, like myself. But one day I did try it to give it a fair chance. Now I do use concealer but I'm one of those rare people who never creases. I'm able to cover my dark circles, completely, but I do have deep set tear troughs that I'm also trying to cover and that has been challenging, because you can't just slap on a ton of concealer & expect it to be covered. It takes a couple of different shades of concealer applied in the exact spot, using enough powder to completely matte out any shine to further camouflage the troughs. At the same time, not over powdering, to avoid a thick, cakey look. Not an easy feat to accomplish. So, I basically tried baking to cover up my troughs. I was able to cover them, but I did have a heavy, masky caked on look. I agree, I would rather have my troughs lightly covered with my regular makeup routine rather than baking and ending up looking like Baby Jane (I know I'm dating myself with this reference).

Just the idea of seeing Baby Jane in person, at the time, sounds absolutely terrifying! Jaclyn does mention having dry skin or hinting at it in the video... she mentions she used to do it with products formulated for more oily skin too... wonder what that may have looked like??
I can deal with under eye bags, my cake face did not last past 5 minutes.

Thank you so much for sharing the REAL! I much prefer the beautiful you without all of that gunk! I can't use filters because I don't have them nor know how to use them.
I really, really hate how so many young woman are pressured into using so much product (and filters) that you can't appreciate their individual and real beauty!
