Beauty Product Reviews

disappointed. not good for dry skin.

I was so disappointed with this brush after it had been so highly recommended! It doesn't work well on dry skin at all, even when using primer and liquid foundations. It soaked up alot of product and left streak marks no matter what tecnique I used.. cheap brush but i'd rather use a sponge.

Great pale colour - which is usually hard to find

I love having porcelon/pin up looking skin and I can acheive that with this powder. :)

At first I hated it, now I love it

I randomly bought this in ivory because I was in a rush and thought it looked good. When I got home and tried it I absolutely hated it. It didnt do what it claimed, the colour wasnt very light and the coverage was light- medium. Then after trying it a few more times and figuring out how best to use it I now love it. I have to mix "light porcelon" and "ivory" together to get my desired colour. I apply moisturizer, primer, concealer, then dot the foundation on my face and blend it in with my beauty blender, then build another layer on my cheeks, forehead and around my mouth, then apply more concealler around my eyes and set all over with powder. Its a fantastic WINTER foundation, but doesnt fare well in the hest. If it feels heavy on your face then you're putting too much on, thats not the products fault. I recommended this to my friend and she really loves it too.

Not "highly pigmented" at all, but okay for a cheap product.

I purchased my palette brand new from eBay for $9.00/free postage. So yeah that's pretty cheap and I shouldn't complain. However I think this palette was very over hyped and doesn't live up to the amazing reviews its been getting. Not all colours are super pigmented, even after applyng foundation, eye and face primers. I find that you have to apply the same colour over and over to get a good vibrant result. Once the shadows have settled they do hold up well, but they smudge and blend away very easily when applying. I would recommend this palette to someone wanting to experient, who is on a budget or who is just starting out. But i'd never use this palette on clients.. The shimmer to matte ratio is bullshit. Most of the vibrant colours are matte and alot of the natural-glam colours are shimmer, which I dont like at all. They have alot of light white cream colours that are all very similar and hardly show up, yet hardly have any nice dark colours. I probably wouldn't purchase this exact palette again, i'd find one in a different brand or with darker colours.

Over rated.

I read alot of reviews from women raving on about this mascara and I don't feel that it lived up to the hype. ( I bought this and the cat eyes one) I put this mascara on one eye and the maybelline illegal length fiber extensions on the other, I honestly could not tell the difference between the two. Except for the fact that I had to apply this one atleast 5 more times. It does give long lashes but they look somewhat spidery, which I don't like. I followed the instructions on the back, then tried every tecnique under the sun but still got the same result. So overall I was pretty disappointed with this purchase. The only upside is that the waterproof aspect is really strong!

Great Coverage, Cheap, Long lasting, Perfect Colour

Maybelline New York SuperStay 24 Hour Foundation (30- Classic Ivory) – 4.5/5 Stars Cost: $16.46 for a 30 mL bottle

Upsides: - I’ve tried basically every foundation under the sun and this is the first one that I’ve liked in ages. - It’s great if you’re on a bit of a budget but still want a good looking product that won’t melt away or rub off easily. - I have light olive skin and the classic ivory is the perfect shade for me, it covers most of my blemishes except for the bags under my eyes. - It’s very blendable and buildable which is great, however you only really need about the size of a 20 cent piece to cover your face completely.

Downsides: - I’ve found that if you don’t apply it with your fingers before going over it with a sponge, then it doesn’t look as good.

Great colour, long lasting, not many downsides.

Rimmel London Eyebrow Pencil (002 – Hazel) – 4/5 Stars Cost: Roughly $12.00 each

Upsides: - I’ve been using this product for about 2 years because I really like the colour it gives and it lasts all day without needing to touch it up. - Also it lasts for atleast 6 months, even with daily use.

Downsides: - My only problem with it is that it doesn’t give the best coverage so you have to fill in the gaps with eyeshadow. - Also you have to constantly keep the pencil sharpened otherwise it smudges and looks a bit fake, especially on hot days.

Not worth the money, unless you want spider leg lashes.

Maybelline New York Illegal Length Fiber Extensions (Blackest Black) – 3/5 Stars Cost: $18.50 per 6.5 mL tube

Upsides: - When I first used this mascara I absolutely loved it; I thought I’d found the best product ever. It made my top and bottom lashes look HUGE and ready to hit the clubs.

Downsides: - After a few weeks of using this product, it still looks I have lots of long bottom lashes, however the top lashes get clumpy looking no matter what technique I use. - They still look alright and it does lengthen them, but I’ve been told the overall effect looks like “spider legs” so yeah that kind of put me off it a bit. - Also you can’t let them dry between applications otherwise it makes your lashes really hard and flakey.

Good & Bad.

Mehron Rigid Collodion (Scarring Liqiud) Cost: $18.00 per small bottle.

Upsides: - So this product definitely has some pro’s and con’s. - It’s good because it does dent in your skin like a serious knife wound would. (For example: The drug lord named “Mama” from the 2012 movie “Dredd”) Also I used it for my “Joker” makeup. - I find it works best if you apply a darkish eyeshadow to the area first, in the shape of the scar you want to create.

Downsides: - You have to use a lot of it to get a decent looking scar which can work out to be a bit expensive in the long run as it’s about $18.00 per small bottle. - If you’re not careful it will flake easily and the fumes from it do irritate your eyes. - So because of that it’s not something that I would really buy often.

Good value for a cheap product. Highly pigmented. Long Lasting. Good for definition.

Upsides: - This is really good value for a product that’s under $5.00. - Most of the colours are highly pigmented which is really useful if you have heavy bags under your eyes and you want the colour to last all day. - I sometimes like to use the darker colours along the sides of my nose and under my cheek bones, just to give it that little bit of extra definition. - It's also really great to use for things such as "old age makeup" and other special effects. - I’ve had mine for about a year and am only just running out of the main colours that I use.

Downsides: - It can be a little bit difficult to completely remove some of the darker colours.

I purchased mine here: <a href='http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200654599660' rel='nofollow' target='_blank'>http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...</a>
