Beauty Product Reviews

I didn't want to...but I do, I really do.

For the longest time I told myself I wouldn't like this product. It's $32 for less than a fluid ounce where you can find another pore-centric primer for about the same price with more product (I'm looking at you Too Faced Primed and Poreless). I also didn't find the product very pore minimizing compared to the Primed and Poreless anyway. But after year of accumulating Porefessional samples, I decanted the tubes into a jar and tried to get rid of it. If I didn't like it, I could toss it out. But what ended up happening was that I ended up liking the primer for controlling my oil! Compared to the multitudes of primers I used, this one controlled my shininess the best. If I did get oily, I was dewy, and for an oily skin gal, that sight is rare to see so when you're dewy, you notice. After my sample jars emptied, I switched to another but it didn't compare. My mind was already made up, I needed the Porefessional. I still think the price and the amount don't match, but the product itself is great. As I said earlier, I didn't want to...but I do, I really do like this primer.

Good, but the scent is overpowering

I can see why this brush cleaner is "the most requested makeup brush cleaner on the market", with one spritz on a dirty MAC 217, I saw product move off of my brush on contact with the the cleaner. However most of concern comes with the scent. While it does say "vanilla scent", it's comes off as a strong industrial vanilla that gives me a headache when I'm spot cleaning several brushes at once. This is the reason why I docked one and a half stars. Won't purchase again, but if you can stand the scent by all means try it.

Doesn't smell too great, but does take a decent amount out of the brushes. But I've found that some highly pigmented colors tend to remain on the bristles. Also this cleaner takes awhile to dry. But it's decent for the price but you can probably find something better.

Ever since purchasing this product, I haven't seen too much improvement on any activity on my face. Instead of "zapping" i'd say that the activity has shrunken. But after that, the activity is still there.

I wear 300 Sand, a little dark for me but definitely a shade that will suit me a lot better during warmer months in California. Medium to Full Coverage can double as concealer for any spots taht are peaking out of the foundation. Although not 25 hours as the bottle states, but more like10-12hrs which is my typical day at school/work. All in all, definitely a long wearing foundation. Probably one of the more good quality and affordable foundations in the drugstore. One of the only cons I have for this product is to be careful with how much you apply for your foundation, this product can borderline natural coverage to looking like you have makeup on coverage.

The NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils are definitely up there with products I would recommend to use as an eyeshadow base along with Maybelline Color Tattoos and MAC Paintpots. Since I have oily eyelids, I still need to take extra steps to ensure the longevity of my eyeshadow with this product - powdering and priming the lids. However with all of those extra steps, I've see that this product has about a 4 - 6hr wear on my lids. One of the most known issues with this product too is that too much on the lid will have the tendency to crease. So no matter how little product I put on my lids, they still creased after that amount of time. Docks a couple of stars for having so much work with this product, but that doesn't mean I won't still recommend it not everybody has stubborn lids like mine.

They're okay.

I'm really sad that they've discontinued the 6 Color Icon Palettes because those were my absolute fav. But I've decided to try these out since these and the trios are what will be left. I got the 8 pan palette in 'Comfort Zone' and while some of the darker colors are highly pigmented and easy to blend; I found that the other half of my shadows on the lighter side of the spectrum weren't too pigmented. =/

For my lashes, this mascara was almost able to do everything: lengthen, darken, thicken, and give volume to my lashes. However, the formula was very wet that it didn't hold my curls at all and that's why I gave it an average score.

Geared More Towards Drier Skin

I think what happened here is that since BB Creams are a hybrid of Foundation and Tinted Moisturizer, Garnier geared this product more towards the Tinted Moisturizer side of the spectrum. So because of that and since I have oily skin, this product made me feel more oily than I usually do on an everyday basis. I didn't have this issue with my Missha M BB Cream. Also, BB Creams aren't really meant to be full coverage so I covered any spots with my regular concealer in addition, my skin tone appeared more even than heavily done up. But unlike Asian BB Creams, Garnier came with a wider color range and I got it in Medium/Dark.

Sadly, since this made me feel super duper oily, I can't recommend this for those with oily skin. :(

YES!

This is quite similar to the Angels on Bare Skin cleanser by LUSH being that you need to add some water in order to form it into a paste, then apply it to the skin. Compared to the Angels on Bare Skin which is for normal skin types, this cleanser is marketed for more oily/acne prone skin. The sales rep at LUSH told me that this product can reduce oils and shine throughout the day. Since then, I have seen what she means, I don't feel the need to blot as often as I usually do when I use this product. I also like that this product can be used as both a cleanser and is gentle enough for everyday exfoliation. You can use it for both things, if need be. When you first use it, there's an extreme herby/spice smell to it (hence the name) and for a small container full it costs around $14. Other than that, I fully enjoy this product and have seen the improvement within my skin.
