NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2011
Hair

Thakoon's inspiration this season was cowboys and Indians, interpreted through colors, prints, motifs, and shapes. Lead hairstylist Odile Gilbert hand painted three different colors into model's hair (pink, purple and blue) in messy, spontaneous splotches. “Thakoon’s collection is all about a color story and I wanted the hair to make a strong statement to accessorize the beautiful, bright clothing," said Odile.

Get the Look
  1. Mist hair until it is towel dry and apply Kérastase Mousse Volumactive.

  2. Blow dry hair using a diffuser, scrunching portions by hand to create a messy texture.

  3. Create two large French braids on each side.

  4. Twist the two braids, securing them together at the nape of the head.

  5. Spray hair with Kérastase Double Force Hair Spray.

  6. Take colorful clay, wet it with a dime sized amount of water.

  7. Using a paint brush, apply two colors of clay all over the style, creating a sleek, bright and colorful look.

  8. To remove clay from hair, rinse and condition with Kérastase Bain Satin, Lait Vital and Masque Nutri-Thermique.

Makeup

Because the collection is so colorful, I wanted to focus on a classic, strong brow. I kept the face natural, with a little pink on the cheek for healthy color. On the eyes, I focused on contouring to show strength and attitude, a cowboy attitude that is," said makeup artist Diane Kendal for NARS Cosmetics.
