Silly question I know, but I also really need to know the answer. This method was recommended to me to prolong the life of lipsticks, but I've never tried it.

I would think not.

No, actually it helps them keep their shape if they've melted or broken :)

@Hannah - Does it matter the type of lipstick? Would it matter if it was a matte, lustre, satin, etc?

Hannah K.
I don't believe so, though I also don't recommend freezing them for extended periods of time.

I'm thinking of a few hours or overnight at the max as I'm super paranoid.

Yeah, that shouldn't do anything other than help them keep their shape, and make them easier to apply if they're a creamier formula.

I will definitely try this out for a Bite pencil I have, it breaks off so easily because I'm a bit too heavy handed but I think I will do it in the fridge first!

Thank you!
Think freezing eyeshadows would be bad or should that be ok?
Apr 11, 2014
Hannah K.
I wouldn't try freezing shadows, that would probably mess up the texture and make them harder to apply.

Good point. Thank you!

The moisture from the freezer might mess up the eyeshadows, I wouldn't try it unless you have one to test it out with that you don't really like.

I've heard of keeping nail polish in the fridge to prolong it as well. Perfume too. I would think it could work the same with lipsticks. The freezer may be too much though, I'd definitely start with the fridge first.

I wouldn't put nail polish in the fridge, it would most likely coagulate and end up useless.
Lipstick should be fine.

I keep mine in the fridge during heat waves. I also refrigerate my lip and eye pencils for a day before I sharpen them. Makes for a nice, clean tip.
