I believe it's indoors and it's a typical wedding with some Chinese traditions tossed in.

I don't know how much Chinese traditions will be in this wedding but here are some Chinese wedding etiquettes I found online:
Traditionally, the bride usually wears red as the colour symbolises joy and prosperity. Wearing red clothing while attending a traditional wedding is considered impolite where the guest would be accused for trying to steal the spotlight of the bride. It is better to wear clothing in pink, peach or purple as these symbolise new life and happiness. Clothing in orange and yellow are also acceptable. Black and white clothes should be avoided as both colours represent mourning and death. To wear black to a Chinese wedding is also considered bringing bad luck to the newlyweds.

I did not know that Whitney! Thank you very much and do you know if it is full white/full black that will bring bad luck or if it is any white and black that will.

If you aren't comfortable in bright colors and need an alternative to black, jewel tones are dark but appropriate. Things like plum, amethyst, emerald, ruby, crimson, goldenrod, navy, chocolate brown, etc.
A cocktail dress that falls to the knee or just above (an inch or less, no higher) with sleeves is the most safe choice. You want to avoid lots of cleavage, bare shoulders, short skirts, and anything in the black or white ranges (including cream, dark grey, ivory, even blush or beige if you don't know what color the bride is wearing). If you suspect she might wear red, avoid shades of red as well.
Ross usually has dresses that are inexpensive and wedding appropriate. I got a Calvin Klein shift dress with three quarter length sleeves in a lovely amethyst color for $25 (which I have now worn to three weddings, haha).

I live in CO and I knish this weather has been crazy cold. It's probably only going to get worse, I would do a black dress with tights and booties. For a pop of color I would add s scarf (:

I'd advise against the black dress just to be safe unless you get the okay from the couple or their families. It would personally bother me if one of my guests was in black, so it might bother them too.
