I've heard that putting Vaseline on eyelashes before you go to sleep will help them to grow? Does anyone know if this actually works or if it's just a beauty myth? Xx

Beauty myth.
Vaseline can clog the glands on your eyes that fight off bacteria and protect them so its not safe to try.
The reason girls think it looks longer or thicker is due to product build up. If you try putting it on you'll see right away they look longer and thicker so its obviously not actual growth. Vaseline is as effective as putting on a clear mascara over all. The most Vaseline will do is condition your lashes, over all there is a safe way of doing it without risking an eye infection.

Its a beauty myth but you can try applying castor oil to your lashes if you want to elongate them

Oil doesn't help them either. It coast the lashes so they look thicker and fuller, but does not actually make them grow.

Honestly I do put on vaseline on my lashes after wearing heavy eye make up for two reasons: it helps removes the product and moisturize the eye area. it does clog the glands and can cause cysts or something of that nature. in my experience something similar like that happened once. it was a small little thing that wasn't too bad just a little annoying to have and it was on my lash line. it came off after awhile though and it hasn't happen since. I make sure to always take off the excess vaseline to help avoid clogging the gland. as for if it grows our your lashes, I think it helps because the eye area and lash line is no longer dried out after I use as it would be after using a ton of make up. I don't feel the need to rub my eyes and hence they are no longer itchy so my lashes don't fall out from that

Oils & Vaseline won't make them longer thicker. just give the illusion. your eyelash growth/cycle is determined by genetics.

The clogged gland/duct issue can actually require surgery (I had to have it when I was younger). Definitely stay away from useless beauty myths. It has absolutely no benefits that outweigh the risks.

I disagree. Olive oil or castor oil, or coconut oil keeps the lashes moisturized because they don't clog like Vaseline. Just apply lightly with a mascara brush.

Sure, what Nala said can help CONDITION lashes, but like it has been said, the only thing that can make your eyelashes actually grow is Latisse.
