I bet it was...And they trek you to do that as if its ok.That was insane a whole meaning to the word cake face.@Kelly it gave you a bruised nose effect like Diana picture.I hope this helped you ladies truly think about these so called Guru's and think about how much time they take to make it look as if is so called flawless in pictures and now you know what you is not always what you get and told the truth about the correct way of application.

Great thread! Haha it was very entertaining to read, and definitely taught a good lesson. I wish I could participate, but I'm currently on vacation & don't have any bronzer with me :/ Still, I'm itching to try it so I might give it a go when I get home next week :) Should be interesting!

Personally, I fake my contouring. I mean I do like an easy version for me. I have watched so many video's. What irks me is that most beauty guru's or just beauty lovers use so many products and brushes. I also feel that popular guru's tend to do what just works on them. So overall issue here:
-products are hard to get ahold of.
-the guru's tend to not explain importance of each product or why they are used or dupes of products.
-I have chubby cheeks therefor contouring tends to be a bit difficult.
I think bottom line is that people want quick answers to something that seems impossible!

I agree with you that they should be explaining why you should be doing something instead of just stating what to do so you can understand what they're trying to achieve and change it for your face, but personally I think you should be the one researching dupes of products, they don't have time to try and find a product for everyone that may ever watch them yano? lol :)

True I agree they don't. But when you are putting out a video using all high end products that they bought or were given they (anyone making a video) should remember that people value their opinion and respect the knowledge in makeup. So it's nice when people give true genuine advice on their looks created.

I think someone might have read about contouring, or someone half listened to a professional and it just spread like wildfire and hasn't gone away since. I know Jordan Liberty put out a video recently about why you shouldn't use bronzer to contour so maybe that will be the start of people stopping and thinking (on youtube). I find it kind of crazy though that some of the people that have proper contour kits don't seem to notice the dramatic difference between them and bronzer and still recommend it? (bronzer that is)

Maybe it's that too. I didn't want to say it. But sometimes video's are so long and people weed through what they feel is necessary. Honestly, what I learned from all of this is trial and error. And what works for some doesn't work for most. I think if you try too hard to follow every step that's when people get angry and frustrated when it doesn't work out or gets too confusing. However, the bronzing information is interesting I did not know this! Or notice it. I didn't know there was much of a difference.

I never thought of that but skipping through videos would play a huge part in mistakes and wrong information (context people context! lol) being spread :)
Its true though, you can't take a technique thats so individual and different for each persons face and say 'here's a general map, errryybody do this' haha It just doesn't work. Its just like trying to do an eyeshadow placement meant for a deepset eye on hooded eyes :)

Thanks! And yeah, I think what gets me is when I see someone do a gorgeous contoured or eye shadow look and I try their techniques and products and it comes out so bad. It makes me loose faith in them and myself. I watching a video and applying what you know works for you is the best route.

Lol! Navi my goodness its very haunting ghost lady in the forest lol...This gives you and others an idea what not to do when it comes to contouring and highlighting.Products & color is a big important part when trying to achieve a look.You should never feel like its a mask when you have it on and the finish should be subtle.This is why we say there are guidelines in makeup and this is why we say certain techniques need to be corrected or explained for people to understand.Don't let the makeup wear you and don't always believe what you see on those pictures because you have seen first hand what that actually looks like in person now when done wrong. :-)
