I do not use a primer before my foundation...Do you think its necessary? If you do which ones do you recommend?

I have always found a big difference when using a primer. My foundation goes on smoother and my pores look smaller, almost non-existent! It also helps it stay longer. The one I like is the Rimmel Fix and Perfect. It is also only $6 I think! I love it. :)

If you had asked me a few months ago, I would have shrugged and said "meh," because I've never really used one. But I wear my makeup all day, every day, and by seven o'clock it's usually shot. When MAC put out their Pro Longwear line, I snatched it up and started using it in conjunction with their Prep+Prime skin line--what a world of difference! Not only does the foundation glide right on, it holds in it place and keeps it flawless until I take it off at night (which is usually a 15-hour wear-time).

I still love to use OCC Face Primer and Laura Mervier, although a lot of foundations do have a primer base in their formula.

I don't personally feel it's necessary. It does help but I don't use one. I am interested in finding one that helps to minimize pores though, due to my oily skin. It is one of those "It helps and makes a difference but you can get away without" type things to me.

I do use a primer (Smashbox Photo Finish Light -- good for combo/oily skin). It holds my makeup in place pretty well.

I really like Tarina Tarantino Pearl Glow Primer --- Gives my face a great dewy, glow.

well im kinda up and up with this one...i heard your not suppose to wear primer if you have oliy skin...which i have so ive never tried it just on my eyes...what do you all think? true or not?

No, if you have oily skin, you *should* wear a primer. If you don't, you risk having your makeup fade even more.

I only use it on my oily areas and i prefer M.A.C Prep n Prime and The Body Shop Matte It face primer.

@ Shelly T. & Avi C. - Thanks sooo much. I have Too Face primer...i'll try it tomorrow and see how that goes! =)

I think about a hundred people will tell you that monistat chafing gel literally saved their make-up! I've yet to try it but apparently it is brilliant!

For covering up pores I use benefit pore no more as a primer and also the benefit stay dont stray as a primer for my face as well! They help keep your makuep on all day and the pore no more really minimizes the appearance of my pores. Helps Aloott!!

I use a face primer - I use the face of australia primer, but I have heard the rimmel one is good too. I think if you use a good moisturiser that should be enough especially if your face is oily. But I do think a primer is good to keep your makeup on and for your skin.

I have review the face of australia face primer

I say it all depends on skin type and what you feel like you need. I have super oily skin so NOTHING sticks to it unless I prime the living hell out of it. I like Monistat Anti-Chafing Relief Powder-Gel. It's very similar to Smashbox Photo Finish and much cheaper. I also really like BeneFit The Porefessional, although it's a little to pricey for me.

If you have really oily skin cause I do. This is gonna sound weird but put some milk of magnesia on your face before applying your primer and foundation. Put a very thin layer of it though cause a lil goes a long way. It totally takes away my oil problem and leaves my makeup looking matte all day long. I know its a diarrhea medicine lol but it works great. I found this trick on Youtube. Hope it helps!

I have sensitive skin and I am soooo afraid to put milk of magnesia on my face ??!!! What do you guys think? Anybody with sensitive skin used this before

I noticed that when I use primer my skin does look almost pore less. I am not a huge huge huge fan of MAC, I am sort of a MAC hater since its pretty pricey, however their face primer along with their foundation and powder worked well on my face. Since my cousin gave them to me because they were too pale for her and caused her sensitive skin to break out I used them because I didn't have to pay them myself! Over the summer I stumbled upon Rimmel's 6$ primer and have been happy with that! I'd rather pay 6$ than 30$+ for something I will most likely use often. When I am no longer on a student's budget I will definitely shell out the money for higher end brands but for right now Rimmel seems to work for me. If anyone knows of other inexpensive primers that work better please let me know!! =]

It's really not necessary. It's better to try and enhance the quality of your skin and a beautiful, smooth look will follow naturally. If it's for a long wear, try Estee Lauder Double Wear which will give you 15 hrs (usually longer for me, personally) where you do not have to touch up even once throughout the day! Another great one is Clarins, which actually offers 24-hr staying power and looks absolutely gorgeous.

do we still have to wear primer with long lasting makeup like the revlon colorstay? Won't it make it more difficult to remove even if we have oily skin?

I can't use my foundation without a primer... (I use MUFE HD foundation and primer)

The texture is different, and it really does make my makeup last through the day. It also makes a barrier between my skin and makeup, so removing it isn't so bad.

honestly girl, it isn't necessary. use a primer if you'd like. but seriously to me it kinda doesn't make a difference, well it does. Like it helps my makeup stay on longer but doesn't necessarily make it stay on longer (if you catch my drift??)

anyways girl I say just stick to your regular routine and only use a primer when you remember to or when you think it's necessary (dances, parties, outings) =]

@ Amy P.: Just use makeup remover to take off most of the makeup, then cleanse your face thoroughly and follow with a toner and moisturizer. You should be set. :)

I use the loreal primer and I feel like I use less product when I use it!
