So I have had this skirt for over a year and probably only worn it 3 times. I love the colors, but the minute I put it on my hips appear significantly larger than they really are. Is there anything I can do to fix that? Or is it just the style of the skirt? Also would a certain shirt/blouse be able to fix it/cover it up? What style would look good with this skirt?
And what color should I look for in the blouse? What jewelry would look good?

Sorry for all the questions, I really want to wear this skirt more often now that I have a pair of heels that match the purple in it!

And a close up of the waist band and design 😊

Do you wear it with the belt right on your hips? I'd wear it a little higher, depending on how long it is. I loooove it by the way!

Oh I think a white top and gold jewelry!

I wear it on my waist , and it falls to about 4 inches above my ankle.. Thanks!! I have a pink one with a simpler waist band, and it doesn't give me much trouble, I wonder why this one does! I was worried a white top would clash with the cream in the skirt, but if it wouldn't I'm all for a white blouse!! Thanks Kat!!

I have a shorter skirt with a similiar waistband and had the same issue of it making my hips look larger and disproportionate compared to the rest of me. I found that wearing higher helped a lot and I normally tucked my shirts in unless it fell right where the band was (if that makes sense). I also don't think a white top would clash. You could even see what a lavendar coloured shirt would look like to bring out the tiny flowers :)

A creme coloured blouse would also work! And I agree on the gold jewellry to match the belt.

Omg that skirt is gorgeous! I would pair it up with a fitted top...like a tank top and maybe a thin knit sleeveless cardigan that hits mid-length. It will diffuse the bulkiness that you are seeing. I have a pleated skirt and it gives makes my waist look thick and curve less so that's how I wear mine. Seeing this post I need go find it and wear it sometime. Top color...you could go with cream or any color that is represented in the skirt print itself.

I am going to offer the opposite advice. Try wearing it a little lower on the waist-almost the hip bone. Then wear a top that is long enough to just cover the waistband. I agree with Shelley on pulling out any color in the skirt for your top.

I think a fitted white top with a simple necklace would really compliment it. Also add a nice jean jacket.

Prints on skirts and thick belts can be tricky. I say put it higher than hips so if highlights the waist which is usually smaller. I'd definitely only wear a white tank or tee. A colored shirt might be too much.

The volume of the skirt itself is probably what is making your hips look larger. Putting the waistband closer to the hip, like Jane said, is probably best.
