Beauty Product Reviews

Heard a lot of good reviews about this so I went ahead and bought it, and I'm really glad I did. It's not ridiculously expensive, and you don't need to apply a huge amount to make it work. I haven't had any problems with breaking out, and, most importantly, when I use it, my makeup really does last all night flawlessly, through thick and thin. Only thing to look out for is that if you spray it too close to your skin, it'll stay wet and sticky for a while, and then it can make makeup run a bit, but if you are conscious of keeping your distance, that problem doesn't exist. Seriously an excellent buy.

Money-wise, this is one of those things that is well worth biting the bullet for. It heats up ridiculously quickly and straightens hair perfectly. For me, the straightness lasts all day and into the next day, too, until I wash it, which is amazing because usually, without a scary amount of hairspray, my hair usually doesn't want to hold a style even five minutes after doing it. This flat iron is magic.

This may very well be my favorite of the Naked palettes--it certainly gets more use than the others. It's got a really nice balance between light and dark colors from pink to orange, mauve, to black. All of them can be used day or night depending on how you choose to mix and match them. I was worried at first that the shades in this palette might not work with my light skin tone/hazel eyes, but I have found that all of the colors look great on me, which in my experience is almost never the case with a palette. Also, I love that it's almost impossible to create a bad combination of colors with this palette. Only complaint is that without a light hand, there's some annoying fallout with the glittery shades....if you are applying those, be careful to take the necessary precautions, or your whole face will look like an arts and crafts day gone horribly wrong. The dual-ended brush that comes with the palette works pretty decently, as well!

Meh

These are super cute, smell nice, and come in some pretty colors. However, as far as moisturizing goes, they are fairly disappointing. They feel great on and look good too, but once they've come off, your lips will not really feel any different than they did in the first place. If you're looking for a pretty "glossy, but not too glossy" look with just a slight hint of color, this might be right for you. But, if you're looking for more of a healing balm, move along to a different product because this is not the one.

HG Drugstore Product

The waterproof version of this has been my go-to for years now. I have tried high-end mascaras that don't even hold a candle to this stuff. Doesn't go on clumpy, and lasts forever, and I do mean FOREVER, all while providing those sought-after lengthening and thickening effects (though if you're looking for REALLY dramatic length you might want to layer this over a different mascara more suited for that). It's definitely one of the best bang-for-your-buck products out there. Well done, Maybelline.

I've been using this foundation for about a week now, and I've got the hang of applying it so that it works well for me. It is quite thick, but when applied sparsely with a sponge or a foundation brush, it provides a ton of coverage/evenness and gives my skin a nice matte look as well. I can definitely see how over-applying this even by a little would throw a wrench in the gears, though. The key thing to remember here is that a little goes a looooooong way! Also I notice that like a lot of foundations, it doesn't agree much with dry skin and might enhance flakeage. Not too much of a problem for me right now, but I can see how it could be a hassle to others. On the bright side, the variety in colors means I was able to find a really nice match for my skin!

HG BLUSH!

I am officially in love with these blushes. So pigmented, so long-lasting, and reasonably buildable and blendable. Everything about this product is just lovely. I have Tipsy, Exposed, and Peaceful, and they are my favorite blushes of all time. If you are looking to buy this and are hesitating for some reason, make the right choice and add one (or more...) of these babies to your makeup arsenal. They are well worth the price. Plus, the packaging is so cute!

Loving the color Margin--the frost finish brightens me up just enough without being over-the-top sparkly, and the color is very pigmented, but still nicely buildable, so I can use just enough to give my cheeks a nice glow or I can build it up to be a bit more dramatic. My favorite part is that it doesn't look too orange or pink on me, as I often have trouble finding shades that look relatively natural with my skin tone for the days I don't want to go all out with my makeup. This is just perfect for me. Will definitely repurchase when I run out.

I'm too pale for this!!??

I purchased this over the summer when I was a touch more tan than I am now, and even at that point, I had to get shade 01 for my ghostly skin. Now, in the winter, when my face hasn't seen the sun for a few good months, even shade 01 is too dark for me. I had to switch to a different product entirely! Wish they carried this in a couple of lighter shades for paleys like me, because while I was using it, I liked it a lot. It has really nice coverage for a tinted moisturizer, while at the same time not feeling like you're wearing too terribly much makeup. Plus, it works really well with my finicky face---didn't cause me to break out or anything, which is a huge concern of mine when it comes to moisturizers, foundations, etc. Great product, but sadly, a bit limited.
