I am in love with Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation and have been for almost a year. This foundation is perfect for someone looking for light to medium buildable coverage with a natural finish. The best part of this foundation is its longevity, it seriously lasts 12+ hours on me and still looks fantastic at the end of the day. I've found it very hard to find a light/medium coverage foundation that lasts that long so when I tried this foundation for the first time, I knew it would be a long-time love.
For the first few months of owning this product, I was applying it with my trusty MAC 109 brush. Then, when I bought my second bottle, I purchased the Estee Lauder foundation brush and have been using it ever since to apply this foundation. Something about how the foundation applies with this brush is just fantastic; it blends the product so easily and evenly, it doesn't absorb much of the foundation, and it places just the right amount of foundation onto the skin. I highly recommend trying a traditional flat foundation brush with this foundation.
Following are my pros and cons for this foundation:
Pros: - buildable coverage - easy to blend out - beautiful natural finish - works on dry, normal, combination, oily, and sensitive skin - lasts 12+ hours - does not oxidize (ie. change colors upon sitting on skin for a few hours) - a little goes a long way - packaging (squeeze bottle) - can be applied with a variety of brushes - has SPF 10
Cons: - poor color selection (only six shades) - price
Overall, the perfect foundation for someone looking for light/medium coverage, natural finish, and longevity.
Maybelline Full 'n Soft Mascara completely took me by surprise. I had heard great things about it from other beauty bloggers but still had my doubts. Partially this is because everyone seems to love Covergirl Lash Blast mascara but me, so I was hesitant to get my hopes up for this mascara. But it is awesome! The best mascara I've tried in a long time. Here are my pros and cons for this product:
Pros: - very dark black - thickening and lengthening - doesn't flake - longevity - price
Cons: - smudges a bit if under eye area is not set with powder (to prevent this, I use Benefit Powderflage) - hard to find in Canada (I picked mine up on a trip to the States, I've kept an eye out for it in Canada but haven't found it) - slightly harder to remove than an average mascara
I bought this product after hearing so many positive reviews but still didn't have high expectations. After using it for the first time I was blown away! I have EXTREMELY dark under eye circles and this made them disappear! Right after applying it, the color looked a bit odd, but after letting it settle for a couple minutes the color perfectly matches my skin and my under eyes look bright and awake. I've never tried anything like this before, I can go out without applying any concealer for the first time ever. Here are some of my pros and cons for this eye roller:
PROS - Brightening - Great coverage - Very blendable - Easy to apply - Convenient packaging - A lot of product in one tube
CONS - Price is a bit high considering it is a drugstore product (I believe I paid about $13) - That's all the cons I can think of! :o
Overall this product is a must-have for me. Even if I don't wear makeup for a day I still wear this because it's so easy to use and makes such a huge difference. Love love love!
This product is absolutely amazing! Here are the many pros and just one con: Pros: - Tiny wand that can grab every last lash. - No smudging! For people like myself who have long lower lashes, smudging can be a huge frustration. This mascara doesn't smudge one bit, lasts at least 12 hrs without moving! - Very dark back. - No clumping, very defining, and makes your lashes look really long. - Price is pretty good, only $12 :) Con: - Can be hard to remove. It doesn't say anything about being waterproof but it acts like its water resistant. Any good eye makeup remover will remove it with ease, it just may not come off with your regular face wash. Overall, I love this mascara, my need to touch up my makeup during the day has changed because of it and is just such a pleasure to use. I definitely recommend it :)
This mascara is one of my favourites. I didn't have high hopes for it as I have tried other Clinique mascaras and they were all disappointing. I received this mascara as a GWP (gift with purchase), so I thought I'd give it a go. I was shocked! It lengthened so much! I didn't see much volumizing, but I don't need much help in that department as my lashes are fairly thick. What I do look for in a mascara is lengthening, and this one is great for that. This mascara does not clump, applies really smoothly, and does not transfer onto my under-eye skin. You also only need one coat of this stuff to make your lashes look amazing.
So I thought I'd share my thoughts on the much talked about Coastal Scents 88 Colour Eye Shadow Palette. I've owned mine for about 4 months now and have done quite a few looks from it. I've debated back and forth over whether or not I actually like this palette. Here are some pro's and con's:
Pro's: - large range of colours - variety of both matte and satin shadows - most of the satin finish shadows are smooth and easy to blend - pigmentation is good - portable (easy to take along if you need a wide variety of colours) - price
Con's: - most of the matte shadows are chalky and can be difficult to blend - poorly made case (two of my shadows fell out and my latch fell off)
The matte shades in this palette really bother me. They are extremely chalky, cause a lot of fall out, and are hard to blend. I was also disappointed when in the first day of owning it two shadows fell out and the latch came off.
However, overall I am happy that I own this palette. The colour range makes it worth it for me, as it takes a while to make up a MAC or Nars eyeshadow collection that has all the colours you need.
