NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2012

Donna Karan's tribal and sporty spring collection was inspired by Haitian art the designer had seen on her numerous visits. Painterly fabrics, in a color palette ranging from caramel to pale green, were color-blocked and manipulated with asymmetrical necklines and accessorized with dramatic leather neck pieces. The makeup look was just as minimalist and bold, focusing on a strong brow and a multidimensional chocolate lip. "A sporty, sexy eighties Yasmin Le Bon," said MAC lead makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury.

MAKEUP

Charlotte first prepped skin with MAC Charged Water and MAC Face & Body Lotion (available Spring/Summer 2012). She then applied MAC Face & Body Foundation in tones matching the chest to warm up the skin. Charlotte blended MAC Select Cover-Up where needed. For a soft contour under the cheekbones, Charlotte applied MAC Cream Colour Base in Pro Mid-Tone Sepia with a MAC 168 Large Angled Contour Brush. She highlighted the upper cheekbones with MAC Cream Colour Base in Luna, and used the same shade as a base on the lids above bare lashes. She used MAC Lip Pencil in Hodgepodge to create freckles just under the eyes. Lips were defined in a pointed brow with MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Bittersweet. She finished the lips with a chocolate-y blend of MAC Lipstick in Pro Full Chocolate and Most Mocha.
