Talk about nail art! Remember the extravagant neo-Egyptian nail sculptures we saw on Charlie Le Mindu's Paris runway this past season? The eccentric designer may have taken inspiration from the mixed-media beauty sculptures above. Designed and constructed in 2010 by San Francisco-based artist Laurel Roth, these life-like peacocks were built from common items found in a beauty supply store: Barrettes, fake nails, hair clips, faux lashes, and nail polish. While the deeper meaning of the installation juxtaposes biological with artificial ornamentation, no one can argue the radically awesome use of materials.
Whether it's a faux-lash masquerade mask, an eye shadow-based nail polish, or lacquered holiday ornaments, we love pushing the beauty limits at Beautylish. Have you found any innovative, out-of-the-box uses for your beauty products? Share your creative insights and let us know below!
