For Emily Schuman, blogger of Cupcakes and Cashmere and Guest Blogger for Estée Lauder, planning a wedding is something she's been thinking about since she was a little girl. And with the big day just a few weeks away, she’s got to make some serious bridal beauty choices!
Emily's blog, Cupcakes and Cashmere, blends all of Emily's favorite things (food, fashion, interiors, and of course—makeup) into one super pretty, feminine platform. Recently the Guest Blogger for Estée Lauder was lucky enough to work on a video with the brand's Creative Makeup Director and internationally renowned makeup artist, Tom Pecheux. "It was such a dream to work with Tom, he made my skin look like it never has before," said Emily. "He also gave me lots of tips for my wedding makeup, which was really helpful! One in particular stayed with me. Tom reminded me not to forget my ears. He said that girls often focus on the face and neck but forget to add any concealer to their ears—which can look red!”
So what would a girl that loves pink lipstick, bright nails, and a classic topknot have planned for her big day? "I think every bride wants to look like herself but better on her wedding day," says Emily. "I'm obsessed with Estée Lauder's BB cream, so I'll definitely be wearing that. I think my look will be something simple, like dewy, glowing skin, a light color on the lips, and a slightly defined eye. I normally like to focus on one feature, so if I do a smoky eye I’ll wear a nude lip—I love Tom Ford’s lipstick in Nude Vanile.”
Emily’s tip for planning a wedding (and your makeup!)? “This day is all about you and your fiancé, so it’s important not to get caught up in all of the hype.” Look through magazines and online and create an inspiration board of looks you want to show your makeup artist. It helps to have a visual representation of what you want. Emily also suggests looking at old photographs of yourself. “I originally thought I wanted my hair up, but after looking at photos of myself I think I look better with my hair down!” Be sure to look at old pictures and notice the makeup from your favorite looks. Is there more emphasis on your eyes or lips? Is your hair up or down? And whatever you choose, always test drive the look before you walk down the aisle.
