Moisturize well and apply a hydrating primer. Give this a few minutes to soak in and then that should take care of the dry patches. :)

Use a brush. You can apply a thinner coat of foundation, which will help avoid the product caking up on your dry patches. I would suggest brushes such as the ELF flat top powder brush, the Real Techniques expert face brush, stippling brush, or the Sigma F80.

Use a sponge that's the only thing that has helped me with my dry skin.
I don't recommend mixing your foundation and moisturizer. Two different formulas that will just make a patch or ball off.

I've found when I'm dry that finger application works best.

I have dry skin. This works for me. Exfoliate everyday. Use a clarisonic or AHA exfoliant. I rotate them but I have much older skin. Use a moisturizing foundation and make sure your primer matches for example a silicone based foundation gets a silicone based primer, oil for oil, water for water. Use a sponge or your fingers to apply. A brush will stir up dry skin. Good luck to you.

You might want to use a moisturizing foundation on your dry area. I use my fingers for overall application and then use a brush to get into the corners well.

Exfoliating, moisturize use a moisturizing foundation and a beauty blender or sponge an press the foundation into your skin so you don't stir up flakes,

I agree with Leona dry spots I find it to be dead skin building up ;/ using a scrub face wash and moisturizing with a seaberry oil will be good for you :) I've tried this on my niece as her skins so sensitive that I'm glad this routine I did for me worked for her
