Hi,
so I've just started experimenting with brushes (I've always worn very basic make up but I'm growing out of it), so I bought a starter kit with basic powder brush, blush brush, some eyeshadow brushes and a lip brush.
How do I go about cleaning them? Do I shampoo them, use normal soap, use wet wipes? Do I have to wash different brushes in different methods? (I.e. Use different method for lip brush and blush brush).
ANy help would be appreciated!
xx

Well, that depends. For spot-cleaning, I use Sephora's daily brush cleaner. You can buy a 2 oz bottle for seven dollars. And then for deep cleaning, I use baby soap and lukewarm water. And as Renay said, try not to get any water in the ferule. It will break down the glue holding the bristles together, and your brush will eventually start shedding. After washing them, squeeze any excess water out, while holding the brush upside down. Reshape the brush if need be, and then either hang them upside down or set them at an angle to dry. c:

I personally use antibacterial dish soap to remove the makeup & kill bacteria, & then olive oil to condition the bristles. make sure you rinse out the brush very well. it's also important to dry your brushes upside down so the water can drain from the brush properly.
you can look up videos on YouTube about how to do it all exactly. it's very easy :P

I agree with Kyra's response. I use an an antibacterial soap and olive oil mixed in a bowl. Then dip your brush in and swirl it back and forth on your hand to loosen the makeup. Rinse upside down with lukewarm water, squeeze out excess and hang dry or dry at an angle so that the moisture doesn't get into the ferule. I've been using this method to clean my brushes for years and it seems like the best way I've found to keep my brushes in tip top shape for a long time.
