I do use a retin-a from my derm w good results but other then that you can find great products to help w dark marks over the counter from the drug store. aha acids, retinol and vitamin c will all give good results. with the aha alpha hydrox is a great line for the retinol roc or oil of Olay and for the vitamin c I like Paula's choice. if you chose to use an aha or a retinol start slowly introducing them to your skin and don't use both at once and spf daily esp if you use the above products.

Thanks guys!! I was actually thinking of a natural way of doing it! Should I take pills or something for vitamin C or is having oranges etc.enough? And yeah Jacqlyn, I have started wearing sunscreen :)

Lol I know jacqlyn is going to kill me but you asked for natural n the most natural source of AHA n vitamin c comes from lemons! :P you can take a cotton swab and swirl onto a fresh lemon and apply to your scars - it will take time and I would recommend to only do this at night and if you are not super sensitive or have dry skin - if you do it during the day you will need to moisturize with plenty of SPF but you can use fresh lemons if you want to try it :) but it's not for everyone

I would like to explain that retin A and retinol are no way near the same thing Retin A is prescribed by your derm an strong and can cause redness, flakes, skin sensitivity and some people just can't tolerate it but if you can it works wonders Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A its encapsulated time released and much gentler and most skin types can tolerate it in some form even if it's only twice a week and you will see benefits in your skin over time and if your really into anti aging it's a goal standard its the one thing that actually has the capability to change the width and depth of a wrinkle or keep your skin resurfaced and firm over time so retinol along with vitamin C is the best thing for discoloration

I used a combination of a vitamin c serum and spf for daytime and for pm use I reached for glycolic serum 17%. I saw a difference within three months but saw a major change occur at the 6 month point. To maintain I still use the vitamin c serum and spf but for night-time I rotate with my glycolic based night cream from ReVive or my AHA lotion from Mario Badsecu and at least twice a week I reach for my drugstore RoC Retinol cream. Never expect changes to occur overnight regardless of what a product claims as the real truth is that it takes truly 6 months to a year for your skin to see major changes. Plus there are so many variables involved that could disrupt positive results as well. So whatever treatment products you use just be patient and consistent. Oh and it also depends just how deep the scarring is. Some are just so deep that topical methods will not completely remove them but will fade somewhat.

Personally for my scars I've just used coconut oil. It's all natural and organic and it did the job great. I've had scars on my body for years and years and within 2 months of using coconut oil twice a day I started seeing results. To fade scars it would take about 6 months - 1 year depending on the severity and how old the scars are. You can also use Mederma which works really well. People always complain that it doesn't work but it takes about 4 months to start showing results. Whatever you use you need to stick to it religiously. Oh and don't use lemon, it's very bad for your skin.
