Witch hazel! Why I love it!

Witch hazel is a natural product that is found in a lot of cleansers and toners... So why not go straight for the witch hazel!!

It can be purchased at most super markets in the toiletries and skin care isle.

When I was a teenager my brother used witch hazel to clear up his acne, he would used the witch hazel like a toner removing the days or nights dirt from his skin. To my surprise after a few months his skin was almost completely clear.

In my teens I was lucky enough to have rather clear skin so using a lot of products wasn't my concern. As I venture into my mid 20's I have been aaaah blessed with blemishes and bumps and pimples around my jaw line, chin and cheeks! Why now!! My first instinct was to go and get one of the usual skin clearing bla bla products which seem to make my face worse!

Then it came to me, witch hazel!! Why didn't I remember it sooner, the product is a little drying so you have to remember to moisturize regularly, my face has cleared up drastically in 1 week!

My daily routine now is follows-

Wash face with warm water
Wash face with aveeno cleanser
Scrub face with st ives apricot scrub
Dry face
Apply witch hazel to face like toner
Allow to dry
Moisturize face
Apply make up!

Anyone else have any witch hazel tips, stories or ideas?

This product can also be mixed into a paste with bi card to make a scrub.

I would be careful using the scrub everyday(: but I'll definitely try witch hazel next time I get a breakout! Thanks for sharing!

It works wonders for bikini wax relief! Afterwards, douse a cotton ball in Witch Hazel and apply it to the area. Let it dry, apply again, and this time finish up with the menthol aloe gel, and go bottomless for a while til that's mostly dry. It's very soothing, and the redness and bumps go away in about 2 days, rather than 4 or more (for me, anyways). It's good stuff :)

Great tips Maria and Jessica! My friend uses diluted witch hazel on her babies nappy rash and I have heard it works wonders on veins and bruises too!

Does anyone know what that stuff is, really? Lmao. Like where does it come from, and why does it work so well on so many issues?

It comes from a plant actually called witch hazel! So it is a rather natural product! But as for why it is so good, that I don't know haha.

I use witch hazel every time I wash my face. I even got my husband to use it.. I love how it gets any leftover residue and it's refreshing. it's great for inflamed skin too.

It's a magical product! I find it has helped with my under eye bags too, when my eyes are puffy I soak cotton pads in witch hazel and water and lay them on my closed eyes and like magic the red and puffiness is gone (great crying cover up too)
