Sochil, I'm experiencing the same thing. I saw you posted this in 2014. Did your hair return? My hair looks so much thinner now and sparse.

Did you have an itchy scalp when it started to fall? My currently itches. I've never had this before.

Sochil, I forgot to ask, did the dermatologist do any exams? Or send you for blood work?

No he dint do anything but were I worked at I did blood work my self to see if I had anything low I thought that may be the cause but I did have a low vitamin D but only like 2 points down so I starded taking vitamin D but that dint do anything my hair was still thinning and everything else on my blood work came back normal including my thyroid... I do have a lot of dandruff but its little white looking dirt on my scalp like if I scratch it it goes under my nail its not big flakes... So I was using anti dandruff shampoo I used it for about 2 months and I dint see any results...did u go to the doctor?

I saw the doctor this morning. She gave me hope. She doesn't believe the fall out occurred because of the coconut oil. She believes it was an allergic reaction to an ingredient in hair dye. It was the second time I ever dyed my hair and it was my first time with that particular product.

The doctor gave me two prescriptions - the first is a peanut oil and the second is a cortisone cream. I have an irritated scalp. For regrowth she suggests Rogaine, but told me to hold off until I heal. She added that the Rogaine may cause irritation, so it's not a good idea right now.

Well let me know how that helps because I'm desperate and it sounds like you may have a solution to your problem as too me I don't know what it could be... I dint have a problem before until after my daughter was like 4 that my hair started thinin thankfully I still have hair... And when I got pregnant with my son my hair became so beutiful and full and luciouse... Now my hair went back to dead dull frizzz and its thinnin again 😞

Correction: she gave me one prescription. It's fluocinolone (a cortisone in a peanut oil base).

Have you tried biotin supplements? I keep reading good things about it. I just started taking it this week.

I did once but my hair wasnt falling then I was taking it to better my hair...but that a long time ago I stop taking it cus it actually made me break out a lot on my face... So I stopped but I should try it again and just keep using my facial cleansers see how it helps I'm taking prenatals I know they soppost to be good too

So far the doctor's medication seems to be working. I have a lot less itch and my scalp doesn't feel as tender or sensitive. I've done it for three night so far and I believe I see less hair in the shower. Or it could be my wishful thinking. :o)

I also cut my hair to get rid of most of the layers. The layers required so much maintenance to look nice. I was doing hot rollers, pony tails, and buns - things that I didn't do before when my hair was cut straight.

I think this shorter hair doesn't weight my hair down as much either. Crossing fingers that this means less fall out.

I started taking 5,000mcg of biotin this week. I have sensitive skin and had major acne years ago. So far this biotin seems to be making my skin look better.

I also went back to the shampoo and conditioner I used to use when my hair was long - Avalon Organics lavender shampoo and Jason Organics aloe vera conditioner.

Before coloring my hair, it was down to my waist. I regret dying it. I should have left my few grays the way they were. I guess you live and you learn.

Jessica, after you stopped using the coconut oil, did your hair regrow?? If so, did you use something to bring it back?
