I went for a visit to my derm. I was inquiring about my dry acne prone skin and I asked for a good moisturiser but she said- there's no need for any moisturiser in summer!!..is this true?..

I still use a moisturizer in the summer. Make sure it is non-comedogenic. CeraVe is what I recommend.

My derm disagrees and has me moisturize year round. Swimming...all that sun exposure while outdoors. I'd personally get a new derm.

I think you should a light moisterizer if you feel you need it. You know your skin better than anyone. And since your derm said "you SHOULDN't need one" doesn't sound like he/she was forbidding you from using it. Doctors arent always right. I went to the dr. once & told him I think I have a low thyroid & he said "you don't have a thyroid problem but I'll test you anyway". Well, the test came back negative. And I said thats impossible, I want an anti-body test (I did my research) so he tested me again & said it came out positive! Listen to your body. I'm not saying to completely disregard what your dr. is saying but listen carefully to what he/she is saying and ask questions & make sure you know exactly what he/she is telling you.

I know I have a vry dry flaky sort of skin so I do moisturise but I was breaking out these days so went to the derm(my mom's advice)...I did ask her questions but I wasn't satisified..so I left the topic there itself so that the derm doesn't feel that I was challenging her by saying no..lol that sounds ugh!!..:P :D.

Expressing your concerns & asking questions is not challenging the dr. If my dr. said that to me, I would just reply, "I shouldnt need a moisterizer, but what if I do feel I need one, what should I do?" If your dr. thinks thats challenging him, then you should consider findind another dr. In saying this, sometimes its not only ok to challenge your dr, its necessary in order to take care of yourself. I took my mother to the dr. and he wanted to give her an MRI, and on two separate occasions I had to tell him she CANT have an MRI, she has a pacemaker. He had her chart & yet could have endangered her life by putting her into a magnetic machine that could have stopped or dislodged her pacemaker. The most important time to say what's on your mind, is at the dr.s office. You will NEVER regret it and no question is stupid.
