Sounds like you've got psoriasis, I have it on my scalp and am yet to find something that helps :( in the UK we have a shampoo called 't gel' which helps me, it doesn't smell nice and isn't the best for coloured hair but I use it regardless :/ hope this helped! X.

I would use something infused with tea tree oil. The Paul Mitchell Tea Tree products are good and refreshing!!

Psoriasis and dandruff are two completely different things - psoriasis is a genetic skin condition - I have it and I use neutrogena t-gel it was recommended by my doctor when I was diagnosed so that helps - also selsun blue and/or head n shoulders can sometimes help with psoriasis but they are specially formed for dandruff - also if you have psoriasis then you will notice red scaley patches of skin under your hair if it's on your scalp - if you don't see that then it's probably just dandruff.

Sometimes dandruff and itching is caused by some sort of reaction from ingredients in shampoos, you could try using a natural shampoo and see if it makes any difference😊

I have psoriasis. Coal-Tar shampoos like T-Gel are bad for you. Pick up some Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Treatment and a bottle of Scalpacin.

(Tea Tree works for any flaking scalp and naturally relieves itching.)

Have you ever tried a cleansing conditioner? It doesn't make my scalp dry like regular shampoo.

Hi Gals! I'm so sorry to hear so many suffer from psoriasis too!:( I found t-gel or coal tar to be very bad, and though I hear tea tree helps, I'm allergic to it. My dermatologist gave me goopy gels that were very hard on my hair, difficult, expensive and messy! I found sulfate free shampoo, vitamins, milk in my bath water- seriously!! They all help so much! I did a video on all the things that help. Recently I've not been taking my vitamins as I should and my skin is a disaster. Stress can make things worse to. Here's the video, let me know if you have any other suggestions to try! http://youtu.be/Q_23SXrw5tg.

Erica, those meds are murder, aren't they? They wreck hair!

Rozberry YES!! They strip color and made my hair dry, and greasy however that works! Ugh! I told the doctor that those might work for guys with short hair- but not us!😑 That's when I started reading everything I could to find a better solution. I really notice when I don't take vitamin D, he said (articles I've read too) that we should be taking 6- 10,000 iu's a day- our FDA suggests way less. My skin loves it! But I always forget, lol! #brainless 😂

You should only take a supplement if you are deficient. Most people absorb plenty of vitamin D through their diet and routine access to natural light.
Please don't suggest that others take any kind of supplement without first seeing their doctor. There are many potentially serious side effects from vitamins and minerals when taken unnecessarily, including reactions with prescription medications.
As for treating the dry scalp, you need to figure out what is causing it before trying a bunch of remedies. Is it dandruff (either fungal or dermatitis)? Is it psoriasis? Product buildup making you itchy? A reaction to a product or process (e.g. new shamooo, recent color or bleach)? Once you've figured out why it is doing it, you can treat it without causing more issues and wasting money.
