A primer helps makeup last longer. Since you have oily skin (so do I) I would recommend using a primer. Concealer is for extra coverage when the foundation doesn't cover everything. I would also recommend using a setting powder since you are oily. I think Rimmel Stay Matte is good for drugstore. Highlighter is not necessary for beginners. For foundation I would highly recommend Covergirl 3 in 1 since I have oily skin as well. It does a great job!

Hey! Well to start wearing skin makeup I recommend only using basic products, so concealer (cream or stick), foundation (liquid), and a setting powder! Since you have oily skin you could definitley use a primer as Laura Z. said. For concealer I would reccomend a very small thin angled brush to cover any blemishes, for the setting powder I would use a powder brush like ones for blush. ** My number one tip is to use a high quality brand such as Mac, yes its expensive but will last long, won't damage skin, and will definitely cover for a nice smooth complexion!** hope I helped :)

A primer is used before applying make up (This can range from Foundation, Lipsticks, eyeshadow, and Mascara primer..).
A foundation primer acts as a barrier between your skin and your make up. It can help with look & finish of the foundation, longetivity, and help the foundation from oxidizing due to skins oils.
A powder can also be a variety of things, but when it comes to foundation a setting powder is used to basically 'set' your foundation in place from making it more budge resistant ( Setting sprays as well ). They come in a variety of colors... varying from Translucent to all kinds of colors (think the Ben Nye banana powder which is yellow - used to highlight for skin tones that are tan like Kim Kardashians.)
Concealer is used to conceal skin discolorations and hide blemishes and under eye circles. You can use concealer or a color corrector but a color corrector will take you so much further than a concealer. Color correctors use colors opposite to what is the issue to better hide. ( Think color wheel.. green is opposite to red in which you use green to color correct and then apply a concealer of your skin on top. ) Highlights are just to accentuate and bring forth such as highlighting your cheek bones with a nice champagne colored highlighter on it's highest points...
For foundation there are so many... Estee Lauder is raved about for being full coverage. I'd focus on taking it step by step by finding a good primer then a good foundation.. Hourglass Mineral Veil is an amazing primer and feels like silk... I recommend the travel size which is $18.00 since you only need so little.

A primer is like a barrier between the makeup & your skin, it also helps it stAy on longer, since you are oily &acne prone I recommend using a foundation that is oil free & non comdegenic which means it will not clog your pores (so you don't break out) I personally think that mascara is a must for me, it makes my whole face look more alive. Concealer is used to hide dark circles under your eyes or any blemishes, it's mostly for spot use. I would use Clinique acne solutions since you're beginning & cause you breakout. Also I recommend buying oil control blotting tissue paper, you can get it at any drugstore it is used to dab off excess oil throughout the day, I carry them everywhere I go. I don't think a highlighter is necessary for you, that is for contouring which you can look up on YouTube
If you're going to get a primer make sure it's non comdegenic& fragrance free same will blushes & powders, some people use powders to set the foundation I personally don't I just use a oil control setting spray that I got at sephora. Good lucky lovely

In my oppinion even if you are a beginer you can do anything you want contour and highlight or anything but like even your everyday makeup it takes practice, as far as a face primer its to creat a smooth surface and reduce pores for your foundation and make it last longer, concealer is to cover what the foundation didnt it should match your skin color as well its used lighter or darker sometimes to highlight and contour, powders are used to set your foundation this will help it stay in place, highlighting is used to brighten up areas in the face, the right brushes are key to applying any makeup in your face there's different types of brushes with different types of bristels shapes and sizes they can make application easy or a living nighter but good brushes are expensive I would ask jaqueline about any suggestions within your buddget she will tell you about good brushes around your buddget 😊

I think everyones explained really well about which products do what so I'll just suggest some products you can start out with:
- Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro (blue and white bottle) Primer (You apply this to your face before anything else. Apply a small amount to your face and thwn.let it set into your skin for about 5-10 minutes before you start putting on foyndation.)
- Revlon Colorstay Foundation (I suggest buying a foundation brush for this because its not something you can just apply with your fingers. As a beginner I think any brush will do so you can probably purchase a foundation brush from Ecotools.)
- Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder (It comes with a little sponge to apply it. Just use small amounts and press the powder onto your face and dab a bit more on throughout the day whenever you get oily)
- Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (I use the color Sand Sable because its quite yellow so its perfect for undereyes. And you can just use your fingers to blend it out. You can probably get it in a color thats your skin color for blemishes as well.)
