Tips for using lip liner?

Pretend I'm your little sister and tell me about lip liner. Techniques, products, do's and don't's, tips you've learned along the way... anything. I feel my top lip is thinner than my bottom, and it's especially prevalent when I wear lipstick/stain, etc.

Anything you have on the topic (good to do, or bad to steer away from) will help. Please share! Thanks! :)

I'm still learning how to apply it myself - but it can look clownish if you apply too much or the wrong color - so I stick with a nude/skin tone colored liner and just follow the natural line of my lips then apply my lip color then reapply liner and it usually looks very neat n clean and natural looking - but like Alexis mentioned there are different tricks n techniques to achieve different results but I always feel like when I try them then I just look silly so that's what I do - just keep it simple.

I'm a big fan of it, I just kinda relax my mouth. The tricky part is the cupid's bow/top lip, if you need to line your lips in sections. Keep practicing though it gets so much easier!
