Yea black will be harsh.. it will bring out your eyes but it might make you look older so go for dark brown or light brown as a first time

I agree with the ladies above. Black would definatley be too harsh but try a medium brunette or go for a burgundy colour :) Put a photo up when you colour your hair so we can all see :) xx

I would go with maybe a level 4 (dark/neutral brown). Black may not be the best choice but a dark brown would be very, very flattering :3.

I say a mid/dark brown may be complimentary to your tone. yup black hair can be harsh.

I think after seeing the pic of you with black hair that you wore it really well! A dark neutral brown would look nice with the blue as well. I say go for it, and definitely post a pic once you do!
