I agree on the train case... I would also hide it out of view as some people are destructive :(

I don't understand the people who said it's basically okay because she's letting you live there. like why does staying with someone give them the right to use your personal belongings without asking? it doesn't. that's ridiculous. I agree with getting a case with a lock. you could also keep your makeup somewhere she wouldn't look, like a purse or an underwear drawer or something lol. Things will get better for you, love. I hope our advice helps solve this situation. <3.

Tell her it's unsanitary and that its for her own good that she shouldn't use your makeup, unless she asks so you can help her not use so much and in a safe way??

I agree with the others though, just lock it up or something?

Ummm just because you're living there for free doesn't mean you don't have a say in what happens with YOUR stuff.

Well yea the apartment isn't yours, but the stuff is so you do have a say in what happens with your stuff. I guess right now your best option could be lock your room or buy a train case they usually have locks. But over all you have a right to speak up

Idk about other states but in Nevada if someone gives you the right/permission to stay with them, they cannot kick you out, they must give you 30 days. Even if you're not paying for anything.

And I know where your coming from as far as stability goes. You'll make it on your own soon, just keep your head up!

Also I would put a key lock on your door (if you have a room) for when you go somewhere.

I did not say the landlord has the right to use her makeup. I said she doesn't have any say in what happens in that apartment. Basically she is allowed to be there solely due to the kindness of the landlord, this landlord can and has every right to conduct herself in a way that she likes in her property. I'm not saying using other people's makeup is a good thing, but since they're not splitting the rent, the only thing she can do if talking to the landlord doesn't work , is to move out.

Talk to her. Let her know how DIRTY (can you see the emphasis there haha) it is to share makeup. If you don't mind certain products being used let her know. However, have a back up plan on where to go. If she's really a friend she wouldn't sneak around it, nor would she be so petty.

I would lock away your items. Make sure to keep the key on you or remember the combo. Or if she is really your friend you can try talking to her about it like adults. Tell her that she just needs to ask before or come to some type of agreement.

And just bc you're living there for free does not by any means give her the right to use your things without your permission, that's ridiculous

Hmm. That sucks that you can't say something, if she was a good friend you'd be able to. I'd keep it locked up as was already suggested which you shouldn't have to do but desperate times call for desperate measures ha. And sharing mascara?!? 😷

Since you're living there for free you don't have any say in what happens in that apartment. Move out and you can have all the makeup in the world out open.

I would buy a makeup case and put a lock on it so she can't use your makeup.

Well the best thing to do is to keep your stuff away with you or put them in a closet where you can lock it and keep the key with you..and since your living for free you can bring from time to time your friend a gift or something..or else you have to pay and live on your own :)
