So I've heard 1/2 lemon with honey on it can rid you of blackheads. Anyone tried it? Does it work? I've tried a bunch of silly things to get rid of it and all it did was make me look stupid. I desperately need them gone:(

You should never put lemon juice on your face. It has a way different ph than your skin.

@Aspen I've definitely seen a lot of people say that it's ok or even helpful to put lemons/lemon juice on the face. I did try it once myself. It was supposedly a gentle DIY home exfoliator. Well I ruined my face for a good while. I had a massive break out which made me think I needed to do some research about what I had just done to my skin and was horrified and what I had discovered. Definitely do your homework before you try any do it yourself home remedies cause this was a nightmare.

It might work if you use the lemon as an exfoliant because it does contain AHAs but it will probably take a while before you see any results - in any case never leave raw lemon on your face you should always wash in off really well and only leave it on for a few minutes - yes it's acidic but the more damaging thing is what happens to your skin when lemon meets the sun it can cause burns so just be careful if you do decide to use it.

Egg Whites do wonders on mine, and so does Witch Hazel toner.

The only things really strong enough to help clear out (and thoroughly) deep clean pores for me are salicylic acid and BHA. I have tried almost every skin product and routine under the sun, and have found these to be the only effective things for me. I steam my face before bed (just have a soft hot wash cloth on my face for a few minutes), which helps to really open up my pores. Then I use a gel cleanser and wash my face (try Michael Todd Organics Charcoal Detox Deep Pore gel cleanser or Eileen Mai's Salicylic Acid cleanser). Then I finish with a toner containing Salicylic acid and/or BHA. (Make sure to use an alcohol-free one).
Dirty air and pillowcases also contribute to blackheads, so consider getting an air purifier in your home/bedroom, and wash your pillowcase often. Also make sure whatever makeup you use, that you get it ALL off your skin before bed.
I also like to apply a detox/deep pore mask while in the shower (the steam makes it more effective).
