Also I have spenco flip flops which provide good arch support. Good shoes are expensive but I've found I'm happy with less shoes if they are comfortable.

My step mom buys these shoes called orthaheel because she has really bad feet and she swears by them! They make tennis shoes, casual shoes, sandals. The prices vary but you should definitely look them up!

I've had three foot surgeries beginning at sixteen and I'm in my mid-twenties now and looking at surgery number four which is the last resort and called fusion. I can't offer advice on shoes, but I can definitely say I've been there so I wish you well and hope you don't need more than one like me!

I wore athletic shoes during physical therapy for mine. Just plain athletic sneakers from Walmart. If you buy plain white ones and some fabric markers/paints you can customize them. Or just get some fun laces if you aren't very artsy. ;)
I was on crutches for a couple months then had physical therapy for a couple more. Luckily I didn't need surgery (especially since it was worker's comp and it was a nightmare to get them to pay for anything). Hopefully you feel better and it doesn't need surgery!
