Hey guys!
This is something I'm very curious about, and I'm sure there will be a variety of viewpoints on this. Do you view your makeup as a mask that you can't leave the house without? Are you confident walking around bare faced? Why or why not? (did that last question make it seem like an exam question?! I'm currently stuck underneath a pile of practice tests, so you can't blame me.)

No I'm not because I got judge for wearing no makeup for ONE day and people made rude comments and it's my mask... To hide my flaws

Do you view your makeup as a mask that you can't leave the house without?
No, I do not view make up as a mask nor as something I cannot leave the house without.
It is something I enjoy doing but I can live without it.
Are you confident walking around bare faced? Why or why not?
Yes, I am perfectly fine walking around bare faced. Why?
Because I personally like how I look naturally, without any make up on. I feel like make up can help put together a look, but it does not define me in anyway. Bold lips have been my signature look as of late - just because I like how dramatic they can be without changing my face! Playing with make up makes me feel happy, but no one should feel any less of themselves when they are not wearing any make up.

I Didn't Feel 100% Confident Because It's Something I'll Have To Get Used To.

Yes I do, I like makeup because 1) its super fun, 2) it makes me feel like I put in some effort, and I think others also notice that I actually care enough to try to look nice. I don't think that makeup makes you any more or less beautiful, it simply changes your appearance.

Do you view makeup as a mask that you can't leave the house without?
Nope! I'm very much a what you see is what you get girl, and makeup does not mask, only emphasises:)
Are you confident walking round bare faced?
Totally. It's me, I'm not going to change that for anyone. I've accepted that this is who I am, I can't change it, so I live with it.

Well of course I'm a little self conscious when I go to school or just leave the house without makeup but I end up feeling powerful in a way If that makes sense haha :) so yeah I'm okay with not wearing makeup.

I am confident although sometimes I do feel weird because I have acne but most of the time I don't wear anything.

Not really a mask... But living in the Deep South and being Southern raised my mom would always tell me " southern woman are born with makeup on, we don't leave the house without it." Lol so for a while as a teenager I didn't think of it as a mask I thought of it as a gateway into womanhood. Lol now I still don't think of it like a mask it's like writing or drawing something for me , I just looooove to apply makeup. In my opinion how I explain it to people is I personally think of my face everyday as a new canvas and what I can create on it lol
Am I confident without makeup? Yes, but honestly I Believe that is just because I am married so I don't feel like I need to impress any guys anymore lol. But my moms words still ring in my head " dress to impress wherever you go even Walmart you might meet some person who could get you an amazing job! " lol which is true because I'll be working at my current job and people will come through telling me they love my look and they'd love to have me at their store lol but your question was confidence so kinda I would like to have something on my face just because it's a routine to me and if I break it I don't feel like myself... Lol sorry for the babbling

I feel confident without wearing makeup. My confidence resides from within...via life experiences and learning from others.

I only put makeup in occasions so I would have to say yes I am totally confident without it but that doesn't make it any less fun I feel great with makeup on it only emphasizes what's already there and I do believe that beauty comes from within :)

Breanna, your lashes are amazing! And good for you for taking the risk :) In the words of John Wayne, "Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway." You're strong and brave, not just for taking that one step, but for all that you are. And that is so much more powerful than any outer beauty.
Jacqlyn, as a fellow "Accutane survivor", I totally know how you feel. I think there's a difference between wearing makeup to impress people and wearing it for yourself, for that little boost of confidence. It sounds like you're on the right track. And I hope your side effects have been manageable enough! It was hell for me, but the results are definitely worth it :)
Makenna, I get where you're coming from, and I've been there. Just remember that you don't owe those people anything. Your purpose in life is not to impress them or earn their approval. People will find fault with you no matter what, so you might as well just do whatever you want. You don't owe beauty to anyone!
Mairead, I think that's awesome. I spent years with acne feeling like crap, and it seemed to ruin every part of my life. I wish I'd discovered sooner that looking perfect and feeling confident are not two mutually exclusive things. It makes me happy to hear that you're in such a secure place with your confidence, even if your skin still bothers you.
Kaitlin, I think that's a really cool perspective on things - we're basically brainwashed into thinking that the make-up versions of ourselves are better and more deserving than our natural selves, when in fact it's a case of 'different, not better.'
Sarah, haha I know the feeling. Now I have a challenge for you: don't cover it up next time one of those monsters pop up! See how you fare without it...go on, I dare you ;)
Hannah, good on you! It seems like you have it all together in terms of believing in yourself. More power to you :)
Liv, I'm the same way. I used to start off a little self conscious before I had that moment of, "Ha! I don't care anymore. In your faces!" (although, don't worry, I never actually said that out loud!)
Kitty, I love your last sentence. Makeup is so great and so fun, but I know when I first got into it, I fell into the pit of believing I was not 'worth it' if my acne or dark spots were showing. And your statement about not letting makeup define you is definitely something to think about!
Marie, that's great. I had really bad acne for many, MANY years of my life, and I think it's always empowering to realize that your acne shouldn't get to control you or affect the respect you have for yourself.

Yes, I'm confident walking around without makeup. When I wear makeup I only really wear mascara, eyebrow gel and sometimes eyeshadow, so I don't view my makeup as a mask.

Jess, that's an interesting take on things! My grandmother was very similar (despite the fact that we're from South Africa...which I guess could kind be consider the Deep South haha!) and she nearly had a heart attack when I left the house with wet hair one morning.
Lynzie, haha well you definitely have a good sense of humour going for you! And it's like I said to Jacqlyn; there's a difference between doing it for yourself and doing it for others, which I think is where the trouble starts.
Shelley, that's amazing. I completely agree with you. It's your character that shines through even when you're not wearing makeup, and you can't have that if you're too scared to live, or being held back by your fears and insecurities. The most beautiful people are people like you, where the most attractive things about them have nothing to do with looks.
Renay, haha that's a good point! And at least you can recognize that you're being too hard on yourself...I'm such a perfectionist & I'm trying to work on being kinder to myself. I recently saw a poster that said, "Be gentle with yourself. You're doing the best that you can." And that made me feel bad for making myself feel bad lol. Perfection does not equal beauty, and beauty does not equal confidence.
Alya, good for you! Glad you're in a happy and confident place :)
Ashley, well that's understandable! I have a friend who is addicted to red lipstick, and she always tells me how she doesn't feel like herself without it.

Moni, that's good - keep it like that for a while! Once you get into face makeup it gets more difficult to feel good without it.
