If your going Hollywood fashion. If you watch 80s movies and shows, it was much more accurate to be more conservative and matching, so overalls and cute tshirts or jeans and a neon top. Or acid wash and a normal top. Crimpers or faking with a flat iron are good things, so are colorful hair bands.

Please don't do all brights. The eighties were more like what Sapphire said. Think bigger teased hair, frizzish, crimped hair, and agreed with the overalls! Also try big sweaters, and light wash high waisted shorts, tennis shoes with white high socks, and fold the bottom of jeans up a bit if you wear them! If you have Keds, wear them, they were really popular!

I was an 80's teen! I can give you some ideas of how we dressed & did our hair & makeup!! 1st, we'll start with the jeans. High waisted ( if you don't have any the GoodWill will have PLENTY for a few dollars a pair) really light washed denim or dark denim with bleach platters all over them. We used to make them by putting bleach in spray bottles & turning the nozzle to "stream" the bleach out. You don't want a fine mist. Next, tight roll them bad boys!! If you don't know how..Google it! Ok, the shirt. Button down long sleeve dress shirt with a collar. Flip the collar up, roll up the sleeves to your elbow & leave it untucked with a HUGE thick belt around it to cinch it in @ the waist. Now shoes & socks.. anything hightops!! & crew length colorful (sometimes two different colors) scrunched down (below the tight roll) Hair..lots of mousse after you wash it..flip your head upside down & blowdry it on high speed! Before you flip your head back over just a very light mist of hairspray. Think the bigger the better for the end result!! Flip back over & tease & hairspray until its as big as you can get it! Break out the heat tools if necessary to get the sides to stand out & the bangs to stand up! Earrings..big earrings of your choice! Door knocker type or long feathers..big hoops. Then bangle bracelets. Stacked! 2-3 on one arm. Funky colorful painted nails & makeup! Just think Cyndi Lauper! Grace Jones! Your just about done now. Let me see...I think that's it!! If you wanna do the more girlie girl 80,s girl take inspiration from Madonna back in her "Like a Virgin" days or another fav of mine Cindy Lauper. I'm not sure how she spells Cindy? Its been a LONG time! Lol.. I think its Cyndi. Idk..you'll find it easily with Google. PLEASE take pics & post them once your all dressed! I'm so stoked to see them! Have fun!!

Omg! Excellent job girls! I freakin love the neon & spandex!!" I totally forgot about that! I DON't know how..I LOVED rockin it & the leg warmers..Heck yeah!! & Bailey..lol..noooo doubt on the mousse & aqua net! I carried a huge can in my purse!! Lol.. This thread is AWESOME!!

When we had 80s day in high school, my boyfriend (now fiance) and I dressed like hair-band fans, using our parents' old clothes. We wore Guns n Roses tee shirts, I wore my mom's leather skirt and boots, he wore his dad's acid wash jeans and sneakers. :) Rocked some Pat Benetar-esque blush and blue eye shadow too. It was awesome.
