Yet I find them looking a lot softer and more natural when I use black instead of brown.

Dark eye and bold lip...but it doesn't really count because I do it for performances!
Your brows are fabulous, Kitty!

I agree, everyone has their own style and what one person likes another could hate! I personally hate using foundation brushes...so I guess that's my thing lol :)

I do dark eyes and dark lips (not for performances!) because I love the way it looks. I think that rule is completely ridiculous.

I wear bold eyeshadow with bold lips together, I think they can really compliment each other.

I love dark eyes and lips! I got challenged yesterday for a vampy look, so I will most definitely be doing that just to friggin do it! lol.
I think the contouring thing is just misleading. Some girls that I've seen labeling bronzer as contouring are actually applying it where it's supposed to be. I've noticed a lot of contour kits, that are just bronzer and blush. Because marketing labeled it as a contour kit, that's what girls are going to be calling it.
I haven't seen anyone actually apply a bronzer where the shadow follows, I've seen them do the whole 3 shape rule on their face, and call it contouring. It's just confusion on what contouring actually is.
I don't know if I'm making any sense... I guess in better words it's like me applying blush where it belongs, but saying I contoured my face with blush.
Now, if you put bronzer on following the whole 3 rule, Then add more bronzer beneath your cheek bones. Thats just putting bronzer all over your face, lol.
@Mio That was a rule? Oh poop I break that one too LOL.
@Rebecca Yay I'm not alone ☺

The rule I break is that I curl my eyelashes after applying mascara?
Jan 8, 2014
Kitty K.
@Mio, I can understand blending out the actual part that is lined with your eye, and not blending out the outer V. But I never knew we werent supposed to do it, lol.
@Mariah I always assumed that was done like that, lol.

I cannot go to sleep with make up, no matter what. Even when my friends come over and want me to do their make up, I'm like I have to wash your face, I WILL WASH IT FOR YOU IF I HAVE TO, lol.

I agree about the marketing on contour kits, in fact I've mentioned that exact information on many threads about how blush and bronzer are being sold as contour kits for profit from companies because of the hype on contour.Nice to know the information is spreading on Beautylish. As for rules being broken, if any are so called broken by anyone I would say most are minor like the dark eye and dark lip that's fine its minor and can work or eye shadow for brow powder another one that's minor or lipstick for blush it can pass to the general eye.I think little minor things are ok as long as application is good. :-)
