A friend of mine bought me the Lime Crime Velvetine in Red Velvet as a gift. I really wanted to share the real deal scoop with you guys, because I have never heard of any other review other than it's 'spectacular amazing, etc.'
In this photo... I have the Matte OCC Lip tar (left) next to the Red Velvet Velvetine (Right)... I had to use more product for the lime crime velvetine whereas the OCC liptar only needed a pin drop.
Is this product worth the hype?
uhhh not too much. It met it's expectations, but there are products just as good that need less product and cost less.
Maybe back in 2004 when Matte liquid lipsticks were not a thing, but this is very comparable to the Stila Liquid Lipsticks and even better... the OCC Liptars that are matte! ($18.00)
Matte liquid lipsticks are carried by almost any brand that has lip products. For those of you Beautylish Gurus who feel like they are missing out... fear not - you are not!
I will save my couple of dollars and waiting time and just buy myself more Matte OCC Lip Tars ♥

@Jacqlyn That is exactly why I never bought one.
And now that I have one, I feel like it truly is a very over hyped product. The OCC is so much more pigmented as well. The tube was very small for the price as well. I feel like for a tube so small the product should be way more pigmented.

If you really want to try it Kristina you can! It's not that I am claiming that it's a bad product, because it is what you see in the photos. It's just the hype around it!
My point is that there are products that are similar which I prefer over lime crime - that cost less. I just wanted to let everyone know its not such a big deal that people make it out to be because I felt so left out not having it and I'm sure others feel the same :)

I've always thought they were drying, wore unevenly, and were overpriced. I gave my Velvetines all away...all four of them. Stila makes a better product, but my Revlon's work great for much less and when used with a MAC pencil pack serious staying power. Great review!

Yea I rele liked the lipsticks I haven't tried anything else I wanted to try the lipgloss but kept putting it off thank god if it's not rele worth it lol I don't got money to spend on something I'm not totally in love with thank god for beautylish lol

I love both but OCC is more pigmented and the product itself lasts a very long time! Like you probably will never run out of it:P I think the OCC lip tar is what you should stick with instead of the LC velvetine.

The issues with Doe Deere go way beyond repackaging. She is a liar, a thief, and a swindler. When she started, her products were unsanitary and caused bad reactions in her customers. She took orders and payments, but never sent products. Bad reviews, customer complaints, etc. were deleted from her pages or if she couldn't delete them, she and her friends threatened people. She stole intellectual property from several people (long after she claimed to be reformed). She routinely harasses people who speak out against her awful business practices. She released a collection of items that many people found racist (the China Doll set, which had promotional material and packaging in very poor taste). I could go on. How her business continues to exist despite many criminal complaints is beyond my comprehension. She is a disgusting facade of a businesswoman; she'll never see a red cent from me. I don't care if by some freak occurrence the Velvetines are the best lipsticks on Earth. Nothing excuses the owner's behaviour and justifies supporting her brand.
OCC on the other hand, seems to be quite lovely and extremely versatile. Thank you for the comparison, Kitty.
