So my acne was really bad this last summer. I went to my doctor and they prescribed me clindamycin phosphate topical gel. It was working really good and my acne was close to gone. But then I bought foundation. It's maybeline's fit me foundation. But I started to realize I was breaking out again. I'm guessing it's the foundation. I still use the acne gel but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. So should I switch to a different brand? If so, what would you recommend? My face is naturally oily.

Yeah I would say switch foundations because it could be clogging your pores & causes your acne to flare up again. Same thing happened to me but my doctor prescribed me erythromycin 2% topical it was just like a toner. I would also say look into changing face washes I using the biorè ice cleanser & it's helped my skin a great deal I only get breakouts when it's that time.

I'd recommend switching to a different foundation and concealer, maybe try using a primer before you apply if you don't already and I've actually experienced this so your not the only one.. I've just been using bb creams and cc creams lately and my skin has calmed down a lot but if you really want to use a foundation I'd reccomend the maxfactor facefinity foundation, its absolutely worth the buy, has amazing coverage and its very very affordable :) goodluck

I would switch foundations. I break out from a lot of foundations because my skin is super sensitive. here are some products I recommend:
- Hourglass veil mineral primer
- L'Oreal True Match foundation
- Bare minerals foundation
- Dermablend Foundation
- Marcelle BB Cream

I highly suggest you try Jane Iredale! its sold in spas, dermatology clinics as well as a few health food stores. And there is reason for that! I noticed a huge difference in my acneic skin once I switched over to JI 7 years ago, and I will never go back. check it out online!

I second on Jane Iredale!! That line is awesome. I first found out about it a few years ago when I was going thru some major medical treatments and needed cosmetics to not further irritate my skin from the treatments I was receiving. It made me feel whole again because it made me glow instead of looking like a pasty sick ghost. I had no irritation issues crop up ( acne ). As far as you current situation there is definitely something in the foundation that has you reacting the way that you are. I suggest stop using it and stick to makeup free face for now and allow your skin to calm down. Don't switch out scripts just yet.

I would also look into revamping your skin care routine because somthing worked for you before doesn't mean it will continue to work clindamycin is a topical antibiotic it to be used in conjunction with retinoids, salicylic or benzoyl peroxide using it alone may work at first but your skin will become use to it the same way we become antibiotic resistant so does your skin you have to have a full skincare routine to help keep your skin clear cleanse with a salicylic cleanser ,use your gel ,moisturize with a non comedogenic moisturizer like cerave and try using a retinol three times a week like roc then you can go with a new foundation like the one Kathryn and Shelley suggested.

Try something like Clinique or any other skin-friendly brand for any makeup on your face.

What's the difference between bb creams and cc creams?
Feb 21, 2014
Traci L.
Cc creams have more beneficial skincare ingredients in them like serums would.

Maybelline's face products are awful. They always made my face worse (most drugstore stuff does though sadly. I have acne by default but they always made it worse). I use Urban Decay naked skin foundation and the Hourglass Veil Mineral primer and I don't have any issues now. I can use them both over existing breakouts and it won't make them worse or give me more. I've been using it for a few months now and I'm very happy with it.

Try a mineral powder foundation, it's very light so skin can breath, it feels like your wearing nothing! try bareminerals, cover fx or even physicians formulas, which is less expensive and can be found everywhere. if it's not enough coverage you can put some concealer where needed under it.
