So, I have dark under eyes and I hate having then because I constantly look like I haven't slept. It's a bit embarrassing and I was wondering if anybody could help with that.

It depends on what type of undereye darkness but yes, it's mostly genetics though dehydration can make it worse.
Get a salmon/orange color corrector concealer to place JUST on the darkness and the follow with your normal foundation routine. Just try and not disturb the color corrector beneath when applying the foundation. Be gentle on that area.

I have zombie under eye area and have had it since I was born. It's awful. I use the MUFE camouflage palettes (the orange shade) for that area and then follow with foundation and then on top applying a brightening concealer. It's easy to create creasing and other problems though, so use only as much as is needed and set with only a touch of setting powder but always set.

Like Simran said they can be genetic (mine are) if not drink plenty of water you can try eye brighters and thing like that and cold presses. To cover them depending on how dark they are you might need a color corrector not just a concealer. you would want a salmony color to counteract the blue tones. Bobbi Brown and Napoleon are my favorites but benefit earase paste isn't bad either.
