I have been on the hunt for a new perfume for a little bit now but I don't want to invest in one I won't like later on. I typically like more musky /woody smells something like the kat von d sin. As long as it's not something sweet smelling I'm up for any advice! :)

I've never smelled the Kat Von D perfume you mentioned, but I'm also a fan of more dark, musky tones. :)
Right now, I have the original Juicy Couture, which in my opinion, smells amazing. Then I got the Katy Perry Purr perfume which I'm loving recently. It definitely has a muskiness to it but also a deep floral scent as well. Though i'm not a fan of floral scents, I like this a lot. :)
I heard Lovestruck by Vera Wang smells awesome as well.

You can try "Lady Vengeance" by Juliette Has a Gun. It smells like romance and drama stemming from a vanilla-patchouli base and haunted by a hint of rose. Roses and smoke, who doesn't love that? But I think it's one of those scents that you either love or hate. You really have to try it and see how you like it.

I work at an ulta so I'm constantly smelling all of those perfumes and I like all of them in their own way. I have to narrow it down then I suppose. Keep the advice coming I love to learn about new things!

I think you'd like Elle by YSL - it was my go-to for awhile...Peony, Vetiver, Patchouli, Woody Note, Jasmin, Pink berries, Lychee, Citron. Sex in a bottle, really.

I love Calvin Klein's IN2U. I know you said you prefer more of the musky/woody smells but this is a great summer/spring perfume that I recommend to anyone and everyone. It just smells very fresh. Not sweet, fresh. It makes me feel very pretty and springy. I might as well be a sprite :)

Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey... never had more compliments than on this scent. It's very unique but might appeal to you since you like woody/musky scents.

Burberry Brit has quickly become my favorite. I get so many compliments whenever I wear it. You could also never go wrong with Chanel of course.

Personally if you want a musky but light scent I'd actually use Purr by Katy Perry.
A light girly scent i use Sweat Pea that's from Bath And Body
And just an everyday work/school perfume i use Princess by Vera Wang

I second Escape by Calvin Klein if you're just beginning your collection. It's pretty great.
