In the past year, my face has decided "Hey, I know you went your whole life without acne, and now that you are 26 I am gonna lay some on you!" How evil and dramatic right?
Anyways, I have been using Neutrogena products per an esthetician's recommendations. Well, it is helpful at getting rid of them, but what are you beauties using to prevent them?? I really am starting to go a little crazy here. I wish I had gone through this ten years ago so I would be able to deal with it better lol. Not really, who wants it.
I just need some suggestions please!

My acne has flared up really bad recently so I had to go back to a dermatologist. He put me on pills, a topical treatment and a medicated face wash. When I wash my face I use a clean washcloth. Eat healthy. Wash your pillow cases frequently. Try not to touch your face as much. I always make sure to wash makeup off before bed. I also started taking a vitamin supplement called Hair, Skin, and Nails. Ive noticed that its really helped my skin
I make sure to exfoliate at least once a week and every so often I use a mint mask. This dries out my skin some so I really have to moisturize. But it helps.
Doctors have put me on yaz bc for a while now to also help with the acne.
All and all my acne has cleared up considerably. Maybe theres some things in here that could help! :]

If you have time to read this blog, it's a must read: http://www.kabukivoodoo.com/2011/07/skin-care-cerave-must-have-staple-in-my.html
I went through the exact same thing as Soma S. I had horrible cystic acne... I broke out with 3-4 cystic pimples on multiple parts of my face at once! It was so gross and horrible I felt really down. My forehead was gross with bumps, my chin was gross with bumps and brown acne scars.
I started to use CeraVe (prior to that I used everything from high end to drug store (Neutrogena per my previous dermatologist)). I used their Foaming Facial Wash, and AM and PM lotions for moisturizers...
On top of that, I used topicals that my new dermotologist recommended (Differin and Duac (Benzo Peroxide).
Then 2x a week, I'd do a scrub to scrub off dead skin cells. I'd also do masks to lift out all those impurities.
I also switched to mineral makeup (I wanted my skin to breathe through my makeup). Which I found very helpful because my Meow Cosmetic Foundation covered the same as when I used liquid foundation and concealer.
Anyway, with those changes (I didn't really change my diet -- I have a really bad sweet tooth, as well as, a salty tooth, carb tooth, etc. etc.) within a couple of months my acne went away, and those horrible brown spots that were left behind from previous breakouts were getting lighter and lighter (versus taking MONTHS or a YEAR to go away).

Thanks girls you were both very helpful! I am just soooooo over this! I have growing as I type.
My SIL who is an esthetician has recommended things to me as well...which has been helpful but sometimes so many different things need to be tried because we all have different skin. I cannot wait to get through my schooling so I can get a good discount on the high end stuff that I cannot afford haha. I really should make an appt with my dr and see what he can prescribe to see if that works.
FYI- I tried proactiv.......worst thing ever! never again!

Glad to help! Yeah I defiantly had to try a lot of treatments before I found the right stuff for me this time around. My dermatologist had me try at least 3 different types of pills, 2 faces washes, and 2 different topical treatments before I found the right combination. But my dermatologist and doctors have done wonders for me over the years.
I tried proactiv way back in high school during my early stages of acne and it didn’t do anything for me

I tried Proactiv too, and it didn't do nothing for me. =\
I tried high end stuff like Dr. Dennis Gross MD Skincare (those Peels that last for a good 30 days and cost about $100), Clinque, Murad, Philosophy -- I even bought a Clarisonic and stayed on it for a few months. My skin went crazy and broke out at its worse while I was using it. I kept telling myself, this is the "purge" process... but after the 3rd-4th month, I decided to stop because nothing was getting better.
I tried many types of washes that included BP, Sacylic Acid, Sulfur... I even went all natural that was only being sold online or in spas.
I spent money thinking that spending more money meant better products. I used drug store brands because I couldn't spend about $200+ a month on products and make up that only made my skin worse.
Anyway, the great thing about CeraVe is that it's a drug store brand that has high end ingredients. Example, the Ceramide it contains... no other drug store brand has that stuff -- but almost all higher end brands do. So for it being up to 5x less than higher end brand, and does the same thing... I thought why not try it.
The trick is to use a gentle cleanser to wash away the dirt, makeup, and grime off your face. Then to medicate the area with medicine. The Duac helps with keeping the bacteria at bay and stop spreading throughout your face (like if you pop a pimple, or your whitehead breaks). Then the Differin helps with taking that top layer off (sorta like scrubing the dead skin off). And a thing to remember about Differin is that it does not work well Sacylic Acid.
So I usually make sure I wash my face 2x a day. Apply a topical, and moisturize.

yes Proactiv just made my face feel like it is on fire! and my dumb self did not return it in time so I was stuck with it. I still actually use the moisturizer samples it came with. They are not medicated so my face has no bad reaction to them.
I do wash my face morning and night. I exfoliate once a week.
I was told too that it could be stress, which lets face it ladies it's what we do! lol
Thank you so much again for all your suggestions and advice. I always love help from others going through the same thing.
xoxo
